Glad I'm influencing the car resto scene
Very cheap and very successful way to get the car in the air
Would love some ramps but the lottery isnt being kind to me I'm afraid

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (*UPDATE 17/05/11-SOME GOODIES!*)
Right then, as of Saturday morning the RS I was selling began its life with its new owner
Some of you may have recognised it on the FSI.com stand at FITP on Sunday, it has gone to one of my mates off the site and he is delighted with it
So now its gone, I can concentrate on my next project, a full concours job on my RST I'm keeping
Now I have got the money from the other one, I have managed to purchase a couple of new genuine ford parts for the build
I will let the pics do the talking
Not new but in amazing condition (no wear at all!)
And now for the best bit.................................
Let me know what you think

You'll have to get a spare wheel for yours too now if we're going to keep up this twins trend lol
Your wheel is already mint tho, maybe just buy a steering wheel cover for when your driving it?

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (*UPDATE 28/08/11-WORK BEGINS!*)
Update time!
Finally managed to spend some time on my RST yesterday
Been spending all my time recently working on other cars whilst the RS has been sat waiting for the full stripdown, so was brilliant to actually make some progress
Stripped out the interior to check everything over and so it doesnt get dirty/damaged
Pics:
Next up is to strip down the rest of the running gear on the car. She will basically be a shell when done so I can attack any rust and check everything over to be happy in my own mind there is no rust hiding, then the red hammerite will come out!
Should be making some more progress tomorrow

smidydevil :Why all the sound deadening matey?
Good question
The guy I bought it off fitted it. I hear its pretty expensive to buy too. He's done a really good job of it, but it doesnt really make much sense, as he then went on to fit a turbo back 4" outwardly rolled scorpion exhaust, so if he was bothered about sound, he didnt really go about it the right way
I made good progress with the stripdown over the second half of the bank holiday weekend, will upload some pics when I get some time

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (*UPDATE 31/08/11-MORE STRIPPED*)
Right then, another update:
Basically all the running gear is stripped off now, almost down to a shell
Still got to remove a few random bits like gear selector, fuel pipes and brake pipes that run along the floorpan etc to get it completely bare, then next job is to strip off the bodykit and bumpers and see whats going on underneath
Its so good to be making progress with this after so long, and I'm really enjoying getting stuck in
Anyway, here are a couple of pics:
Getting there

Expensive but good I think, at least I didnt have to pay for them
The stripdown is to ensure there is no rust hiding, and to cure any that I find so the shell is completely mint as if it just left the factory. Once all rust is sorted she will be looked after in a way to ensure no rust comes back afterwards and will hopefully be mint long into the future
Already found bits of rust here and there that would have otherwise spread if left unchecked and done alot of damage. Its best to find it and cure it early on

Yea, thought it cost quite a bit
And yes, the exhaust definitely couldnt be described as quiet or subtle

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (*UPDATE 25/09/11-MORE STRIPPED*)
Update time
Got more stuff stripped last week before going on hols, and had a dig around to make sure I found any and all the rust as I went
As expected for any mk3 fiesta, there was some lurking beneath, and I kind of knew about this to a certain extent anyway as I had seen a few little suspect bubbles here and there :hmm:
So here's the list to make her perfect:
NEW P/S REAR WING
NEW D/S REAR WING
NEW P/S FRONT WING
NEW D/S FRONT WING
PAIR OF NEW FULL SILLS
PAIR OF NEW INNER REAR WHEEL ARCHES
NEW FRONT PANEL
And any other patches where required
This will ensure absolutely all rust has gone, and wont come back in the future
Also, picking up something this afternoon to make life abit easier, will update later
Anyway, Pics:

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (*SMALL UPDATE 05/11/11*)
Right then, small update...
Been mad busy with one thing and another recently
Hopefully things will calm down again soon, but needless to say, I havnt had the time to do any more on the RS either
The project is on hold until I can find some wings aswell, so I dont end up cutting the old metal off before I have new metal to weld in, so the endless hunt is still on....
In the meantime tho, I managed to find the final rare parts I was after for the finished project, and got them for an extremely good price too
Been looking for a good few years for a set of these and finally have some!
So I now have everything I want/need, all thats left are getting hold of the rear wings then the project can progress
All comments welcome
