Cheers mate! I used cellulose thinners on the washer bottle. Got the red paint off with the thinners and they also removed the yellow aged colour off the bottle too, looked new when I finished!

No probs mate
Minstral :can u link me to these cellulose thinners or tell me a brand, were i can get it from
I got them from Rhyl Autocolours in Rhyl, North Wales. They are the thinners you use when spraying a car with cellulose paint (which has now been outlawed thanks to brussels ) and I had some left from giving the si a full respray last year. I got some more thinners from the same place a few weeks back when I bought some radiant red for the rst (i'm stockpiling it for the future as it is now outlawed!) so it is still available to get hold of. It is not being made any more but there are still warehouses full of it that can be sold.
Go to your local car bodywork shop, they may have some. Just ask around really, see who may still have some stocks in your local area.
Hope this helps

WOW
That is 100% amazing work. It looks better than new under there now. Id be afriad to drive it.
Are you going to waxoyl over it is as well or just leave as is? I presume this is dry wheather use only?
Good work,
Gareth.

Thanks very much mate, makes all the hard work seem worth it when you get comments like that
I'm not going to waxoyl over it, I would rather leave it how it is and then if it rusts through anywhere I will be able to see it easily and sort it out rather than it being hidden. It has already been fully waxoyled and undersealed underneath in the past too so all the box sections underneath are protected.
Yea, its definitely only a dry weather car, I hope the weather is good for the trip down to ford fair next year, thats the only journey that I have to make in it no matter what the weather is! Apart from that, its going to be a summer toy. I want it to last forever lol. Don't worry tho, when its driven it will be driven properly

Glad to hear it, best way to keep an older ford in good condition!
It upsets me seeing a special ford on the roads in the winter, all that salt rotting things away

It's a pity you've gone back to uni tho, was thinking of kidnapping you and setting you to work under mine
Nice work tho bud, looks well mint. When do you get your engine back from Burton's?
Oh, and what did your gearknob cost you?, If you don't mind me being cheeky
Well, I'm at Sheffield uni so not far from you, still possible!
The engine was meant to be back last week but the Guy in charge of engine rebuilds at Burtons has been off sick so it has been delayed. Looks like it will be in a couple of weeks.
lol, the gearknob was £15, brand new in its packet Cant remember what the stall was called at ford fair I got it from, was a stall that just sold genuine ford parts.

I worked on it every day for about 8 hours for about 2 and a half months to get it looking how it does now. Still got to put the engine back in when I get it back from burtons and rebuild the front suspension. Am hoping to get it back on the road about June next year as I'm at uni at the moment so cant work on it unfortunately.
In terms of getting it onto the breeze blocks, I basically jacked it up and put it on axle stands, then put the jacks on breeze blocks and jacked it up again, then put the axle stands on breeze blocks and kept repeating that until it was the height it is now

In places it is remarakably similar to mine in the way you have refurbished bits. Take a look at:

Our fuel tanks, axels, hubs etc look identical.
Cheers

Awesome project you've got going there mate. lol, its like were doing the exact same thing almost in the same order too. Its good to stop the rust now and make the car last forever rather than just trying to forget its there and think "out of site out of mind"
Keep up the good work mate

Not yet unfortunately mate, they guy at Burtons who was working on it was off sick for a few weeks, but he's back now and phoned the other day to ask what colour I want the block painting so its moving forward which is good.
I'm back at uni at the moment so cant work on her but will be doing some when I go back for xmas and then will be finishing her off next june/july after I have finished uni for the summer. She will make her first appearence at ford fair all being well, cant wait!
Am really missing her atm tho, havn't even laid eyes on her for over 8 weeks!

I'm hoping to have her done before july so I can have a full summer of driving her but we'll have to see

Re: My Fiesta RS Turbo project (update 22/11/09-New Wheels!)
Cheers mate
Well, today was a good day........
I'm absolutely delighted. When i first got my RS Turbo my ultimate dream was to have it rolling on 5 spoke 16" compomotive MO's, but realised very quickly that I couldn't afford them by a long way, so resigned to 16" mondy wheels painted anthracite. I got the mondy wheels but they still needed spraying and they also needed tyres on them, but I was going to sort all that out next year before the car went back on the road.
But yesterday everything changed! I found a set of the exact design of 16" 5 spoke compomotive MO's that I wanted, all brand new never been put on a car, along with four brand new toyo T1-R tyres on them, for less money than it would cost to buy just the wheels themselves..........so I had to get them!
I'm soooooooooooooo happy!!
Anyway, here's some pics:

Cool, our cars will be like twins lol!
Dont worry, they will be silver (or if not they will be white) so we wont be identical
I think they are one of the best wheels for the rs, suit them down to the ground!!
I have wanted these wheels since I first started looking at buying an rs turbo, cant believe I actually have some now! Am delighted!!
