MY fiesta si - engine mounted 23/10
1995 Mk3.5 Fiesta Si Ash black… (Fiona)
She started her life off with my auntie down in London. Since she travelled to work via the train, she was left under a huge oak tree… and im sure you can all imagine what the roof and bonnet looked like
My auntie gave me and my sister the opportunity to have the car, free of charge. However it would be given to the first person to pass their test. With my sister having 4 years on me, I thought I best get saving for a car! Low and behold I didn’t have to save, and she was mine
after stupidly ignoring my dad about saving for my next years insurance, I ended up taking her off the road until I could get a job… so the plan was to strip her back, de rust her, the lot… I got about as far as the door cards, and a few other bits and gave up partly because I was too lazy to travel to and from my house.
next stage was to grind the arches back to prevent and future ‘scrubbage’ when I would finally lower her and fit slightly bigger wheels… got half way with the grinder, couldn’t be arsed so brought the mallet out and finished the job much faster
I eventually found some alloys on ebay for the grand total of £100.00! always wanted multispokes and thought these were perfect.
however the car was too high and the colour was wrong so off the came until I could change the colour and lowered the car!
After a good run of luck, I knew it would come to an end as it always does for me! To cut a long story short, I went to watch ufc with some mates down in London. Satnav got us lost so we had to park down a random, dodgy side street and train it there, the whole night I was on the edge of my seat wondering if it would be broken into or stolen, instead I returned to this… I cannot put into words how angry I felt.
this is after attempting to knock it out as best if could… the door and wing will be replaced, but I have plans for that etc…
this was with the wheels partly sprayed panther black… they are still in the shed since I never got round to finishing them off
some more accident damage… I believe this to have been a 4x4’s spare wheel on the back from the shape of the dent.
so a second hand one smartened it back up as well as a damn good polish and wax!
this is after I fitted my flaps after having them for months and months! IMO, I think flaps make the si look a hell of a lot better! As well as most other cars.
on with the exhaust! Second hand magnex cat back 3”… don’t like it too big…
only issue I had was the fact is was for a 1.6 si, not the 1.4! oops, so it was re heated and re bent to fit. it burbles and pops like a dream… quick vid…
I then fitted led sidelights to smarten it up
along with some wind deflectors
I knew how high my car was so I had a look around and decided on these…
Avo coilovers, bought from tango
I had been looking for a set of rs2k’s and weirdly came across some in Birmingham too, where I was getting the coilies, so I had a chat with the bloke, a ten minute drive from tangos and £80.00 later I had a set of them.
so I decided on a colour scheme (matte black) and painted the ford emblem in the center caps (biggest pain in the arse ever!)
so I had the tyres off the multispokes fitted to the rs’s as they were the right profile etc and had plenty of tread! I then fitted the rear coilovers, which looked awesome… but came across some issues! The fronts would fit, where the thread comes through the strut to get the nut on, wasn’t long enough as the thread was f**cked lower down. So I took it to my local garage to see if they could sort it but no. so whilst it was up on the ramp, had them fit some 30mm eibach springs on standard shocks as a temporary fix.
Pic with the coilovers…
and a pic of the thread-you can see its simply not long enough. (coilover on the right)
I wanted to have a darker ford badge so went for gel overlays – thinking of changing them to blue on black instead!
not as low as I wanted
finally got an si badge (which the car didn’t originally have!)
standard reg plate light
led light… in person, it’s a lot bloody brighter! Great quality.
painted brake drums
and the most recent addition… the cossie splitter.
had issues with removing the bumper to fit it… sheered both bolts, so the thread left on was a bit touch and go lol! Still attached to the car though
sheered fucker
and painted callipers just to tidy it up a bit.
so where I stand atm… ideally I want to underseal/hammerite the underneath and just get rid of as much rust as possible… the underside is in great condition, but the sills have a bit of surface rust etc.
then it will be body work, all the damaged panels/doors replaced and eventually have a full respray in the Ash black again/
hopefully send the coilovers off for a service to get them sorted and fitted, get some camber adjustable lower arms to stop issues.
Any comments, criticism will be taken onboard chaps.
Thanks again,
Ben

Thought so, it looked around that area! Look after it, there aren't many around like that. Cover the underneath in used engine oil or waxoyl or something.

thanks bud. yeah ive undersealed it a few times. but i would just love to get it up in the air, and just strip it. will give it another coating soon before the winter hits... sills have a bit of surface rust on too so ill grind them back and hammerite them! then should be happy days.
thinking of re doing my wheels so they're shiney! gone off the matte black now

Re: MY fiesta si
was waiting for someone to reply with that silver isnt my thing buddy, i appreciate the comment etc and i do agree it all kind of blends in and does need perhaps a silver or another colour to break it up.
but atm my theme is blue and black lol, i just think it looks awesome in black but that could be future plans but with diff wheels, maybe comps, they would have to be silver IMO, but these bad boys are staying black

Gibbo87 :nice car but id loose the ford badges on the mudflaps other than than quite nice
thanks gibbo... but it's all about the ford flaps standard plain flaps are just boring! plus the badges dont come off so effort buying a plain set
bought a bike today (as you do) to commute to and from work... so i can spend a bit more time doing stuff on the car!
coilies will be getting sorted and fitted... im getting a second bumper to blend my splitter in because it just doesnt fit properly... im refurbing the wheels properly and getting rid of the matte black... and ive hopefully sorced a replacement passenger door
thanks, ben

thanks bud, i know a few other si's with them on, but with the flaps they do look good. especially when i had the coilies on, it just looks spot on nice and low!
i was a bit up and down with the splitter, but saw it today from a distance and thought christ, looks good. compliments the shape.

Was aiming for a nice C-Max or Fusion to finish off the collection, then my life would be complete. Or possibly a Mk2 KA

Re: MY fiesta si
im not keen on the rounded bumpers on the mk3 body. I prefer the rs/xr2i kit
dont get me wrong. Its a nice looking car. The bib suits the si bumper much more than it does a rs front bumper.
Some rs accessory rear lights would suit it nicely if you can obtain a set. but you will only be able to find the hella LHD versions

Re: MY fiesta si - update
Right, bit of an update since i haven't on here for a while... afraid i don't have any pictures atm as i cant find my charger for my camera!
anyway... i recently bought a 2.0l silvertop from rstom on here... great chap, lovely set of cars! was jealous of his workspace and double garage, but always something to work towards...
so the turbo plan was scrapped due to the cost and upkeep tbh. it's more work for me to fit a 2.0l to the 1.4 si than the 1.6 but it will be worth it.
the engine will be going in end of april time, waiting to get my gearbox and a few other bits for the time being. the body work has taken a back seat as i just want more powahhh!!!
the rs2k's will be going white, and ive got rid of the flaps and cossie splitter.
my coilovers are almost sorted, and im getting some area six adjustable wishbones so that will be all put together. brake upgrade will follow fairly soon. so next update will be pictures of where she stands, which is a lot different from the original pics a posted.
criticism welcome, thanks, ben

2 litre plans sound good and I'd defo upgrade the brakes before you get more power, needs the cossie bib IMO si bumpers look plain and boring without a bib or splitter I thought the flaps went well too still nice clean motor and keep the pics comin

yeah so did i, just let it get to a stage where it just looked manky and horrible. im definetely getting a splitter, dont you worry lol! but i want to go lower and with a 30mm drop the flaps were scrubbing over speedbumps, the lot and almost coming off in some instances.

Re: MY fiesta si
thanks adz...
bit of an update here... just working towards the engine so repairing/uprating a fair few bits...
yesterday i did the beam pivot bushes (hugeeeee pain in the arse)...
so dropped the beam...
set to it with my dremmel after much delegation of how i would go about it
a £16 dremmel with paper thin grinding discs did the job!
new flo flex bush in
hit a snag though... went to get them both back in to the brackets and boff, they wouldnt fit, so had to lever it in (forgot to take pics) then jack it up at the same time... so the beam should be much stiffer which is a bonus, but didnt expect it to happen lols...
also had to drop my exhaust down, forgot to support it and its twisted down a lot so will have to sort that, the joys of owning a fiesta ey!
coilovers on next week then wheels to follow...
oh and a package arrived... (rs2000 calipers and discs)
rusty but will be ground back to bare metal and painted etc
plenty of beef
and i also went to halfrauds, 30% off the exact socket set i wanted... and cheap axel stands and another jack that i could do with win.

set to it with my dremmel after much delegation of how i would go about it
a £16 dremmel with paper thin grinding discs did the job!
new flo flex bush in
hit a snag though... went to get them both back in to the brackets and boff, they wouldnt fit, so had to lever it in (forgot to take pics) then jack it up at the same time... so the beam should be much stiffer which is a bonus, but didnt expect it to happen lols...
also had to drop my exhaust down, forgot to support it and its twisted down a lot so will have to sort that, the joys of owning a fiesta ey!
coilovers on next week then wheels to follow...
oh and a package arrived... (rs2000 calipers and discs)
rusty but will be ground back to bare metal and painted etc
plenty of beef
and i also went to halfrauds, 30% off the exact socket set i wanted... and cheap axel stands and another jack that i could do with win.
