Good work Ben. A 2.0 conversion done correctly as you're doing it makes for a fun car.

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 20/09/12
thanks Mark, appreciate that.
all these positive comments are getting me very excited again so thanks lads
bit more news, thanks to jony's eagle eyes, the flywheel is getting sent off on monday to get skimmed and re-balanced.
someone over on fsi suggested to get it lightened but i think that will be something for the future as this is an unexpected cost!
so as soon as thats back engine should be ready to go in!

np mate, just looked a bit weary really, and you cant always feel the warps by touch, will safe you replacing clutches often anyway!
could have bought a CVH flywheel as a "lighter" option

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 20/09/12
would've been able to buy yourself a CVH flywheel for around the same price your paying for the work to be done on your flywheel I would have thought and they are lighter than the zetec so would make it more rev happy but all depends on budget, time and what you want mate keep the updates coming I do do like this car and the path your taking it

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 20/09/12
CVH will need drilling out though, correct?
i think for a daily driver it wouldnt be suited. skimmed will be enough for now thanks lads
thanks smidy. i hope it all works at the end! then it will be onto the bodywork once all the mechanics are how i want them. thanks for all the support so far chaps.

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 21/09/12
might have noticed it being a tad choppy engaging the clutch around town constantly, but your coming from a CVH now so you wouldnt have noticed the difference
just heavier as a zetec was built to be more refined than a cvh, sod that though would have made a good change to how the car picks up speed

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 24/09/12
Right not a massive one but just keeping you all up to date.
attempted to get the flywheel off with a normal ratcher and spanner to add leverage. couldn't budge it. so i re-thought my approach, removed the crank sensor and put a bolt in it to hold the flywheel and added even more leverage, this was the weapon of choice...
and one flywheel removed
just dropped it off at a landrover garage round the corner (been a great help with this car so far). they don't think it needs a skim but just a light rub down so they're getting a price after i advised how far i would go with the price. so just waiting on that.
will be collecting bolts hopefully tomorrow for the engine mounts. just to double check, awol advised me that for the bolts for the engine mount on the block side is m10x30 or 40 and the long one for the chassis is m12?
thanks, Ben

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 24/09/12
haha yes, i was actually meant to mention you! apologies. was on auto pilot.
i can't believe how giving it that much leverage undid them so easily lol. got my torque wrench too for when it returns. off the top of your head, what do the flywheel bolts need to be torqued up to?
also, does anybody have a picture of the side engine mount please?

Leverage always helps
96.7% sure they need to be done up to 110 Nm.

Re: MY fiesta si - Update 24/09/12
staying silver mate. went from green to copper then decided on silver. clean cut. dont want this car to look chavy at all (not saying people with different coloured calipers are!) but round here thats what people think lol. want it to look as standard as possible tbh
forgot to order slider pins so theyre on the way.
ive painted up the engine mounts today and mock fitted them
the pas pipe was fouling the space where the bracket fixed to so i had to re bend that once again. a quick question, the bolt heads dont seem to be big enough, will some washers sort that or does the head need to be bigger?
and the ho inlet in position finally

lol cheers, thats going back some
which now for the coolant?
tbh mate you can just use some coolant pip and some plastic joiners from halfords, i have, as i use a four branch so its easier to have a trimmed down heat shield, than using the pipe that comes with it, its ugly and always gets int he way anyway
ill find a pic of how mine is now

having issues uploading to PB, the sod
but you can see where the pipe is going here, tucked under the slam panel, then a plastic joiner to the T piece on the water pump exit
