ive only had it on the road a month, and did most off that while it was off road,
should have smoothed the kit, boot, rear bumper while it was off but i was lazey

but this will be a one off,

im seriously thinking of putting either the xr/rs wide body kit or the cosworth widebody kit on it, smoothed like the chops above,

black white and pale blue interior, engine bay and boot build,

as i will never ever get rid of my "gean" :D

allso a 2.1 turbo will be in the plans

and with me working in a garage and my boss only being 2 years older than me with the exact same1.6 cvh engine in his mk4 escort estate and every tool i can think off, all i need is monies :bonkers:

a few people have sed that,

but i just like the fact theres nothing there apart from the shimmer of light,

but edgin slightly towards a smaller recessed licence plate with the lock and wiper gone,

also, instead of getting poppers for the doors, im guna fit the old 106 side mounted door handles, and hammer abit of the wing back to accomidate haha then itll pass mot and will be able to enter if anyhting happens

i baught it in march for 300 quid, enitially for the engine as its been rebuilt in 2000 and now has 30000 miles on and i did a 1500 mile trip last month

i was guna convert everything on the white one to my lil blue 1.1 but found out ied get fully comp on the white one so settled to fixing it up and keeing it

the o/s/r arch had gone. thefuel filler bit was slightly bubbled and both front wings near where the bumper is screwed on was and is still not there,

i didnt do all the work till 5 days before i had to drive it, i sanded all of the stuff down, filled it, sanded it down consecitivly sprayed it all in 5-6 days

just think of the out come, and how chuffed youll be when you see the outcome

i do admit, its not as clean as it should be cos i cut corners and rushed, but if it goes wrong next week, ill have a good amount of time to perfect everything,

oh and i give my thanks to the missus for sanding down and filling all the sh it while i was at work haha :D if it wunt for her, ied have never got it finished

filled it layer by layer to flush, then 2 extra layers over the top to make it too much, sanded it back then filler stoppered it back smooth then painted

theres 2 places that its cracked but will sort it out, and its only a hairline crack, nothing noticable unless you really look

Nice looking car.

As above though, i wouldnt smooth the boot. I've got a smooth boot and i really dont like it! I'm just too poor to replace it - plus there's not many imperial blue ones out there for sale

yeeah imperials better than isis blue!!

the ball ache i had trying to get isis blue in celli to spray the 1.1,

i am thinking of just shortening it now, n it saves me cutting and shutting the back bumper to, as ied have to some how relocate the rear light, for the plate, but nothings getting done now for abit,

not til im back in monies again :D

Re: my 2i

Postby curly on Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:41 pm

after nearly a year,

ill update with progress,

well

the car was scrapped in jan,

stripped it to a rolling shell first then weighted it in,

i allso baugh another brand spanking new 1.6 cvh off my gaffa, so i now have 2 engines,

ive taken everything of the white 2i, and put it on the blue 1.1 and given it to the missus for her first years driving, and finsihed her car off, all it needs is an engine swap n its done,

and i was also banned in october 07, and finished april 08, but will hopefully have my test done by august this year, and on to yet another 2i( or maybe the blue van/2.0 being sold in the sale bit)

but i want ablack one, hpefully,

slammed on 50`s again with my white rims, stripped and caged with a st24 lump in it running 4x4

i know it dunt fut, but im starting a project compertiotion being run by my gaffa, where 4 of us have to get a mk2 xr2, strip it bare, and tranifie a st24 2.5 v6 engine in to the mk2 and configure it 1 of 4 ways,

front engined front wheel drive
rear engined rear wheel drive,
front engined rear wheel drive

and front engined 4 wheel drive,

and the 4x4 is the one ive got to build, which is mainly using the xr4x4 susspention diff and running works, with the st34 lump, oh and build a tunnel to,

weve to have alll the mk2`s ready for august 09, have it mot`d and some how get it to usc and the quicest car down the strip, wins a grand, which is the budget youve to build the car with,

and ive got it all planned out,

and because the mk3 is slightly bigger than the mk2, i know for a fact itll fit in the mk3,
so mk2 is going as practice,

but yeah, thats my past year summed up

yeah the blue one was my origional first project that lasted 3 years, so had around 4 big tubs of filler, around 30 ltrs of paint, and yeah it was origial shiny, butin the end turned mat, just needed 1500ing and then g3in back n wud have come out nicely, but cba wit it,

the white one came out spot on when i spryed the outside of it, usin celli,

same with the red one, came out spot on, tis all about the preperation, and attention to detail, and the nak of praying

and to do he otside, youll need around 5 litres, thined 50/50 give you 10,
but thats for the utside only, im guna have to strip it to bare shell, and paint over te hole lot,

thinking about it,its guna be a Bic™ painting oveer red, so may pay to get some one to paint it, and just do the preperation
