My FRST :D Updated 22/12/11
Well after an eternity! the rebuild of my car is finally underway, i aint the best person in the world for documenting stuff & even after owning it for 15 years!!! ive very few pics of it but im gona post wot i do have & be taking more as i go along. This is never going to be a concours car, but even so im replacing all the nuts & bolts i can with genuine Ford & where i feel i need to i'll replace with uprated or higher quality fixings. I love the car as it is so asthetically it will be the same as before & im gona try to convince my m8 who is a car painting genius (he had a gold cup winning S1 Turbo) to give the car a top quality paintjob. The engine was built to a massive spec by the previous owner just before i bought it & has only done 11k so doesnt need rebuilt, but ive maxed the beiges out so next year it will go to MSD for a set of suitable injectors & a live mapping session on the eec-IV, just cos i wana keep it original & so the engine can finally show wot its got. This isnt gona be like some of the restos on here which are just mindblowing but hope you njoy neway

Re: My FRST :D
lmfao its a real split over havin both on there m8 lol seems opinion is really divided, guess its like marmite lol, tbh its still exactly as i bought it & it blew me away back then & from certain angles it looks ok & not many have them [u'll prob say [ERRR] feckin wonder? lol] so u aint exactly followin the crowd but ive came to the decision as the bootlid is rotten neway & ive a perfect replacement in mercury grey [with swage lines ] im gona leave the lower spoiler off for the meantime & im debating replacing the mondeo wif a mk5 escort estate spoiler cos i think the slightly smaller dimensions will suit the car a little more. All opinions on both are gratefully recievedlooks very good mate, one too many spoilers for my liking, but good luck with it all mate

Re: My FRST :D
the lower one i since, good to have it as its rare and a bit different while being OEM
but the standard spoiler with estate one on top just seems a bit much, if it were just the estate one with the standard fiesta one gone it be better
when is the build going to start?

Thanks for that m8, thought i was gona need divine intervention lol but its actually alot better than i thought & looks like ive been a bit ott buyin new panels lol but ive got em incase i ever need em neway. Its got a standard rear spoiler on it m8 but with the mondeo on top, ive a replacement RST bootlid with another spoiler so gona put that on & mayb use an escort estate 1 instead. The front 1 was made by a company called Autobodycraft in England about 16 years ago lol but they dont make them anymore so i got a local firm to take a mould of it & the Escos splitter that goes underneath it incase i ever needed a replacement or repair, which ive needed a few of

I was gona get my m8 Ade to do it for me m8, he's 1 of the most talented guys ive ever seen with a gun & 1 of the few to do work that rarely needs polished afterwards, even on laquered finishes lol heres a few of the cars he's done
His Gold Cup winning Series One Turbo
My m8's Concours Escos [1st car to be featured in Performance Fords indoor photoshoots]
Nova Turbo!! [This guy is in N Ireland too & saw my m8s work and took his car over to him lol]
But lol id love to see your car m8y & see the job that guy did with her! if he did mine then i cud keep it local & that'd be sweet, then i cud get Ade to do her again when she needs a freshen up in a few years m8 thanks very much for the offer of your transporter! ur a gr8 fella lol id deffo take the number of the powder coaters cos ive loads of bit i want done. Has he did any bits for you or have u seen is his work decent? This project is just gettin better by the minute lol

Mate mines been in dry storage for 2+yrs now, havnt even looked at it and i do have experience in body repair, but talent is nothing without the will to use it and in that respect you get top marks as you've done more in the last month than ive done in 2yrs
I'll be watching your progress fella see if it will help give me a kick up the arse

Wish i could get life going as its destroying me and my beloved frst's future.
But for the cars sake i would rather re-home than leave to fade then onto a stripped an scrapped fate, followed by being posted up on PF in the dead thread
That simply is not right or fair on her,i made a promise to save her and im gutted to be facing the thought of breaking it.Not my style that.
Anyhow not your bother boss(apologies )
So All the best with yours boss, i shall be keeping an eye on your progress while wearing a rather fetching shade of Green

Rite quick update! Weve been beaverin away & makin a good bit of progress, we decided to doubleskin alot of the places we repaired & used alot of galvanised steel in problem places for its more rust repelling qualities lol so its taking a little longer & of course you want it to look ok so gota take your time lol
Part of what we removed
My biggest fear was the chassis legs were shot & judging by the face the pic looks like its showin it was too l m a o but a little new metal sees them solid again, just need a bit of grinding down & nice finish
Wonder wot he was lookin at? More rust i'll bet lol
Driverside sill was really bad but with all the rot cut out it didnt look so bad, but bein able to see the roof of the car by lookin up through the floor was bloody scary lol
One nicely repaired arch
I ditched the abs system completely & the servo/master cylinder was shot so replaced them with a good xr2i one i had & modded the abs reservoir by joining the abs bypass inlets & also put the bias valves on the inner wing
Also cleaned up the front arches & preped them with sum por-15 cleaning agent in readiness for some serious rustproofing lol
Not sure if we'll get anything else done this week but you never know lol but i can just start to see the light at the end of the tunnel
