Yea we sure did m8y! It'll never be jacked on them again, but wot we did was run vertical sections of galvanised either side of the remainder of what was left of the originals rite up as far as we cud get it, so its double the strength & gave a gr8 edge to weld the edge of the sill too :)

Looks 100% better without the mondeo spoiler mate, a bit too much imo!!

Did ya get the gear powdercoated or painted?? The amount of underarch you actually see when the plastic covers are in is minimal, but saying that id still keep the merc grey theme under there!!!

Coming on nicely!!! :Q

Yea tbh m8 ive kinda gone off the mondeo spoiler too so it'll be gettin flogged so i cant put it back on lol

I decided not to use powder coating & cos im not a buffty lol I just went for a more durable finish rather it having to be flawless tho of course id like it clean, we used a special paint that gets used in the offshore oil industry to coat valves before their fitted to oil pipelines in the North Sea & stuff so its impervious to pretty much everything lol

I was thinkin of keeping the front arches black m8 cos as you say you dont see much of them & then id have the rears bodycolour cos you do, but ive been toying with the idea of putting mk4 or 5 rear arch liners in as well :)

That sounds like good s**t mate!!!!

I toyed with the idea of rear liners but when i looked at some down the srappy, they seemed to hold all the wet like a carpet, so decided against it...not that mine will see the rain anymore...i hope!!!!

Rite peeps! sorry for not updating this sooner cos ive been so feckin busy with work, but still been busy on the car too inbetween lol well weve all the welding completed, rustproofed & etch primed, all the suspension has been painted & built back up again & refitted, we modified the beam with an additional strengthening bar welded too the underside so that'll stiffen it up nicely wen paired with the antiroll bar, the new brake & fuel lines are in along with the tank so in theory shes ready to fire wen we put sum nice super unleaded back in lol just a few odds to sort like i replaced all the rear brakes but the wheel cylinders i ordered were the wrong size so gota wait on em arriving, need to make up the rear brakelines & bleed the system then hopefully that'll be her mobile again :)

Nice repaired rear panel & brand new ford landing panel :)
Image

Repaired strut top
Image

Bit better looking with sum etch primer tho :)
Image

Fresh rear brakes
Image

Nicely painted shocks in none other that Ford Signal Yellow :)
Image

And fitted to the car
Image
Image

New rear brakes
Image

With the tank & beam refitted you can also see the new fuel lines & their nice P-clips kindly donated by Bombardier areospace
Image

I will be rustproofing & repainting the entire underside but my poor m8 needs his garage back badly so were just gettin her roadworthy & i can do the rest at a later stage but in theory shes mot'able lol

Do you in Bombardier?? I used to work in that s**t hole and eventually left to go work on the Airbus A380!! They do have some nice parts: P clips as you mention, stainless steel cherrymax rivets, anodised ally unions, etc.

Fella in there built a mk2 escort rally car, mainly out of bombardier parts bins haha

Well after alot of hard work & effort on the part of my long suffering mate Mark [cos really ive just got in his way lol] we finally have the car at the stage of actually being solid & drivable again, cant believe we got it to this stage so quickly & even more amazing was she fired 1st turn of the key!!! It was quite emotional tbh lol cos its cost alot of time, effort, money & late nights to make her as she is now, not finished by any means but 3/4 of the way there :D

Finally back on 4 wheels after 8 long weeks
Image
Image
Image
Image

We even towed her back to her garage rather than transport her just to test how well we'd put her back together & she behaved like a dream & finally tucked up back where it all started :)
Image
Image

So now the major hurdles are behind me I cant wait to get her Mot ready again & i'll still be updating this from time to time but for a wile at least this is it
