Right, I've just got my car setup the way I like it now on the AVO coilover suspension so I thought I'd take a few pics of her!

Here she is!

Right, latest news on the turbo.

Just got the mk5 RS2000 rear discs fitted, escort cossie front discs and calipers, new 9 spoke 15" wheels fitted (to clear the calipers - the old mk5 RS2000 wheels fouled on them even spaced out another 5mm!).

Had new lower arms fitted so that the car actually turns properly now!

Just tested on a lovely little blast on various road surfaces and twisty lanes, dual carriageways and large roundabouts - serious grin factor!

Here are some pics (will take better ones on Sunday):

The mk5 Escort RS2000's rear brakes were a drum/disc setup, with a small drum with a disc surrounding them - very expensive when buying new pads, shoes and discs!

I'm really growing to like the wheels now - they do expose the brakes really well. Plus they were pretty much the only wheels I could get to fit correctly with my suspension and brake setup. Alot of time has been spent buggering about with spacing and suspension setup to get the wheels to fit around everything! I know that if I had gone for 16's or bigger I would have eliminated alot of these problems with simply cutting away alot of the arches, but 15's work best for handling on cars this size.

Pace chargecooler to be fitted this week - I set my car up to be driven hard!

Here are some more pics - sorry!

What a strange setup the RS2000 had on the back then. Yeah I bet it did cost a fortune to replace!

You've got a perfect ride height there, looks great!

Have you noticed much change to the braking with cossie up front and RS2000 at the rear?

The ride height is just about spot on for everything to run nicely - so it doesn't eat tyres up when at speed (see pic below)

The brakes have alot better feel to them now and start working much earlier on the pedal - alot of this is to do with the Goodridge braided hoses fitted at the same time though.

I think most of the improvement to the braking is from the fronts but rear discs make the car feel alot more stable when on the brakes into a corner.

The AVO suspension really helps alot - being adjustable means that over time I'm tweeking it to exactly how I want it. The car is a completely different thing to drive compared to when I first bought it.

I've setup my own website (just basic to begin with until I get more time to add to it).

:aaah: at them tyres!

I'm downsizing to 16's on mine to get a slightly bigger gap on my arches cos they rub all the time. But not like yours have.

It doesn't eat tyres like that anymore :)

The inner arches have now been removed at the front and the whole lot has been waxoyled up inside to stop any rusting.

I also went a bit mad with an angle-grinder to get rid of nasty sharp archwork!

The engine is pretty much as I bought it, but the guy who owned it previously had the following things done:

- specially profiled Kent Cam
- rebuilt head (not sure if any headwork was done or whether new original parts were put back on) with competition head gasket
- recent T2 turbo
- chipped
- Scorpion exhaust
- cone filter (not sure of make)
- Bailey competition dump valve

It's now using an AP fast road clutch with later mk3.5 clutch pedal kit - so the bhp may be slightly more. I'm hoping to crack the 190bhp barrier with the 1.6 before possibly going for a Castle Performance Stage 3 tune - 1.9 bottom end and a claimed 270bhp output!

Will definitely have to fit a rollcage in it then!

Andy

P.S. The car peaks at 15psi and holds 14psi using a new actuator

The price on the conversion is POA but I've dropped them an e-mail and they called me today but I was busy at work. I'll be giving them a call on Wednesday as I'm free then - I'll let you know how much they quote me!

The conversion is shown on the tuning section of their website
