My install, what next

Postby paniK on Mon Oct 22, 2007 6:12 pm

Hey guys,

I've got myself some ICE that was already in my car when I bought it but it wasn't wired since I asked the guy for the original headunit. anyway, I got myself a nice pioneer bluetooth headunit and have also got 1600w legacy amp, pioneer 6x9s (330w peak can't remember rmx, I think it's about 100w) and a Pioneer 10" sub (think its a 305c 400w rms) with a bespoke box for my boot. Was just wondering, where do I go next? I was thinking maybe door components with tweeters or maybe a power cap? What do you guys recommend. I don;t want to spend silly money here either.

hi mate...best advice...ditch the 6x9's and go for a nice GOOD set of components in the front of the car...amp them up with a good quality amp...

next step will be to change your sub amp to something a bit more meaty...the sub will automatically sound MUCH better than it currently does...

after that i would invest in some sound deadening and sound deaden the rear half of the car...if you can afford to..in Dynamat Xtreme

Then i would look into doing the big 3...which is basically uprating the earthing points and charging leads...change the earth point from bat to eng to 4g as well as bat to chassis and uprate the main charging cable from alt to bat to 4g also...make sure its done correctly and will not earth out or you will be in trouble lol...keep the standard cabling in there as well (the charging lead) as that runs to the starter also but you can bypass that with the 4g

i would then look at a change of sub or a change of sub box

after that sit back and have a listen...if there is something you do not like about the system...it may be possible to add a EQ or a form of sound processor to help in this area..if not and your ears are starting to want to pick up EVERY little detail in the music...you will need to change a few things in order to get it right..then we are talking about how deep your pockets are lol

if you noticed i have not recommended any hardware which is due to you not giving a budget in mind...

hope this helps

it does mate thanks. I haven't heard my current sound system as it isn't even wired yet, doing that in a couple of days with a friend. Once I hear it, I will then decide on what to get but components are definitely on the cards. I'm all for spending a bit of money to get quality stuff but I'll see how it sounds to me first and then I'll decide how much more I want to spend getting it to sound better. Thanks
