Re: MK2 ZT turbo project UPDATE 30/9/07

looks like its all lots of fun mate, im envious of the other shell your now working on mate.. pump the Bic™ full of rust protector to keep her where she is (although you proberly know this)
so did you thread the ISCV ports on the manifold to fit hose takeoffs for the xr2i iscv?

Re: MK2 ZT turbo project UPDATE 30/9/07
haha nice one Jay
Finally got around to getting the M10*1.5 threaded bar and munson rings and managed to get them fitted with no trouble at all
I am waiting for a iscv blanking plate to arrive from Shaun (chopper) and I am going to attempt to fit my own 15mm outlet at the back of the manifold for the remote iscv. Will let you know how it goes

I have the remote piece and a 4 bolt iscv thanks.
I am going to mount it on the bulkhead somewhere and use the port form the cross over pipe and take one form the back of the manifold and blank the 16v EFI 3 bolt mounting off.

Bit of a parts update.
Got my self a management package off FRSJON. It is a set originaly from Ian Howell spec'd for a 2.1ZVH but after speaking with Ian he says I can use it for my Zetec turbo with 14psi boost to achieve the BHP I'm looking for
It is a set of Webber injectors, Escort Cosworth 2.5 bar map sensor and Ahmed Bayjoo chip.

Re: MK2 ZT turbo project UPDATE 6.11.07
ISCV mean's Idle Speed Control Valve.
The valve is located between the front and back of the throttle plate and it controls a set amount of air to the back side of the throttle valve ( the plenum ) and helps maintain a steady idle speed. It is also used by the engine control unit for rising the idle speed when on cold start.
Hope this helps

The chips that Ian Howell sells from Ahmed Bayjoo are reprogrammed Powerchip units I think ( bloody hope so )
I can only go as fast as money will let me unfortunately but hopefully I will be able to sort it out this coming year after Christmas

Re: MK2 ZT turbo project UPDATE 6.11.07
After much arsing around I decided that now I had the management the turbo wasn't big enough for the BHP I wanted so I have now purchased a nice 2wd Cossie turbo
Also here is a pic of the 3 inch down pipe I have for the turbo
Then in anticipation of sending the engine to Ian Howell I thought I would clean up some of the parts ready to take.
All I need to do now is get the engine back out of the car to strip. 1st problem is the car is in a position I cant work on still and 2nd after speaking with Ian I have to wait until march before he has a space available.

Re: MK2 ZT turbo project UPDATE 6.11.07
A bit of an update. Got things moving a little mostly due to Chris (slammedorion) so big thanks to you mate for the loan of space, tools and time
First off Got a 2.5" Magnex stainless just need a smaller tailpipe as the 4"tip will look stupid.
I also had my spare xr2 drums machined down to fit over some sierra cossy solid rear discs so that I can test fit the brackets that I have being made up at the moment
Next up was this ...
One ERST manifold with zetec flange on. Saves drilling the head and makes it easier to replace the head if needed
I then took the engine out of the car and stripped the 2.0ltr parts off it. Bolted up the rest of the 1.8 and turbo gear to make me feel better and check they fit
removed the rear end underneath parts axle, panard rod etc.. and gave it a good clean up ready for paint.
Have since removed the fuel tank too
Next up cleaning and painting parts. Stripped the axle down, blasted it and sanded it, coated it with no1 rust treatment then hammerite smooth black. Same with the panard rod and rear anti bar brackets.
Bought a almost new ARB off MK so thats ready to go on and also some new ARB brackets.
Ordered some deflex bushes for the rear and painted up the koni adjustables as they where looking a little tired.
Then gave the rear underneath a lick of paint ...
It was at this point I built it up to take to Chris's for the grinding and welding needed These are the first parts put back on. No doubt these will need to be repainted again

Thanks lads
Heres the pics from my friend Chris's house. Not many as we where a bit busy. Basically we cut out the small amount of rot on the rear arches and welded in fresh metal. Cut back all 4 arches so theres no rubbing and removed the side strips then welded up the holes that where left. The passenger door is being replaced so no need to remove that strip

Re: MK2 turbo project  UPDATE 19/03/2008
Looking really good now. Doing a really good job of the underside as well. About a year & a half ago i painted up my rear axle & trailing arms but the problem is mines a daily driver so those items are allways dirty!
Your giving me insperation to get it on the ramps and clean it all off.

Re: MK2 turbo project  UPDATE 19/03/2008
Ok guys not been on here for yonks..... I didn't realise I hadn't updated my thread on here.
So for anyone who is interested lol. I painted the interior
Got a rear disc bracket made up for sierra rear calipers. Fiesta centre sell a kit but its £250 these cost me a favour from my ex bro inlaw
Cleaned up the underside
Injection tank on
Painted and pipes on.
Managed to get some of the suspension on at the front.
Fitted new wheel bearing and ball joint. Put on the koni shocker and lower arm all polly bushed.
The calliper is Granada cossie which I've opened up the hub mount holes to 12mm and think I'll just run it RS2000 disc for now. Just need to buy the disc's and track-rod end to finish it off...
Engine plans changed to a 2ltr blacktop with FRS internals. Block and pistons all new... Drilled out the block
and then on to head drilling (big thanks to jonboy for the manifold )....

Re: MK2 turbo project  UPDATE 19/03/2008
Cleaned up the block and honed the bores
Installed the oil spray jets and bearings
Fitted the crank
Assembled the new pistons on to the rods
Installed the pistons
Installed the crank rear oil seal
Also my friend at the body shop fitted a oil return and oil temp sensor mount to my sump
my friend Dave welded in some erst bonnet vent holes
then took it to the bodyshop where my friend works
Then on to some paint
Then the outside
Doors
Shell
Started building it up and painting the window surround
Im not happy with the window surround its to sharp so I'm currently cutting it back to the right shape. I've also just scraped a 1.8 zetec escort which I think I might chuck the engine in for now until the turbo engine is ready.
Hope you like the update
