nice car, have been weighing up one of these - I wanted an ST170 ideally, but these could be a better choice due to fuel costs...

and Mikey - bloody hard work is what gets cars that clean!

Well this arrived in the post today

So installed it tonight

Took it for a quick drive and very happy with the difference in 1st and 2nd gear and it seems a lot more resposive only time will tell.

Have been told they have limiters in 1st and 2nd standard so should make a difference there.

Would imagine 3rd/4th and maybe 5th would be good though with the extra torque!

Your spot on mate they have a torque limiter on 1st and 2nd and it made them gears rubbish really hated them but now you can use them much better just gotta see how 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th are now :D

Re: My Mondeo ST - Few Mods

Postby mrorange2 on Fri Aug 27, 2010 11:25 am

Well since selling the RS1800 not really had anything to tinker with so its time to mod the Mondeo. Since owning it i aint done a lot to it only Bluefin which was fun for a while but its not had much love the alloys are shagged corrored to hell now.

So couple weeks back i had a decat fitted and very happy with it car is so much more resposive now and pulls like a train again.

Today i ordered a Airtec Front Mount Intercooler :D should be here next week and i've been told bluefin have a map for the ST TDCI with decat and this FMIC so will be getting that on it as well.

I'll get piccys of the IC when it turns up :D

Also going to get the wheels painted dark grey when i have some more money lol

Sounds good, Saw they did the cooler for these.

I think I'd be keeping the wheels as they should be - or changing them though. They look a bit odd in grey IMO and its been done to death!

yeah starting to feel the same about colours of wheels
aswell as the 3m carbon

these cars have always had problems with the wheels,
you'll probably stand out more by having them refurbed to original condition
always liked these cars!!

I've put a bit of 3M on the 540  Just the rear diffuser though, looks quite subtle. IE you dont notice at all

And I'm in the same boat with the wheels, though the lacquer hasn't failed on mine - just curb damage but I'm 100% retaining the diamond cut finish when I get round to having them done.

if its done subtly there i'm sure it looks tastefull knowing you max,
its the whole wrapping the bonnet, roof and tailgate in the 3m stuff that looks way over the top.

its not too expensive for the diamond cutting from the right place which does'nt bragg it up as double the price
heres a link to a place i found from detailingworld where the guy was mega anal about his wheels and he was mega chuffed with the finish
good prices too

id love for a few of my interior bits to be carbon Dipped/Wrapped/Coated, Eg the heater/radio control surround and the door handles surrounds

inspired by the chap with the red Focus ST in the latest FF mag has his cd/heater surround done in carbon :Q

looks really subtle

Cheers Rob will have a look at that i would love them to be refurbs to standard diamond cut but pricing is stupid for it thats why i was looking at a different colour.
