My New Runaround Saxo VTS
I have been looking for a better work car than the crappy escort i had so thought i'd look for another VTS.
Came across this one and thought! it ticked all the boxes cheap and nice low mileage. But it was cheap for a reason lol.
Its a 2000 VTS with a genuine 42k on the clock but had some very bad knocking at the front and rear plus some dents etc.
This is as i bought it:
The knocking at the rear i thought was the rear beam as the passenger side had some play in it however it wasnt just that the drivers side boot\rear arch had some rust in it so this needed sorting asap.
Better pics of it.
Then got some VTS alloys and did the front lower arms and CV boots also painted up the front inner arches as it would appear this car had some big alloys on at some point in its live as there are scuff marks on the inner arch so all painted up.
Some Pikey helped me out!
Still lots to do to it though to get it up to standards it needs:
Rear Axle replacing
Change Exhaust
Change Rear bumper
new drivers headlight as clips are broken
Oil temp sensor plug needs new one
new tyres
thats just for starters
Its all polished up now so this is how it looks now i don’t have a good camera so it doesn’t do it justice.
Comments welcome

Re: My New Runaround Not Ford
Looks like you've cleaned it up well.
I'm potentially on the lookout for one of these, or another 106 gti cheap. I know cheap with these generally means quite a few things wrong though!

Your not wrong there! i got this for £700 and i knew it needed the rear axle etc so i didnt pay much i was after something with low mileage all the suspension bits i can sort so i'm happy with it.
I wanted a 106 GTI but they cost so much more than the saxo and none with low mileage so it had to be a saxo for me plus i've had a VTS before.

I wondered when that pic would surface!

Always liked these, especially with the ph2 alloys on there. Not bad for a little run around!

Re: My New Runaround Saxo VTS
Cheers guys. Theres still lots to do on it yet before i can say i'm fully happy with it.
At moment it sounds like something on the rear is about to fall off lol it knocks and bangs like a ba**ard so found a rear axle close to me i'm going to get as well as some lowering springs and an exhaust.

I know Mark who has had the Saxosport exhausts made for these, made by Scorpion and exactly the same as the Peugeot sport exhausts made by magnex. My mate has just put one on his Saxo tour de coarse and loves it.

The Pugsport exhausts are amazing, 2" especially. A cheaper non stainless steel alternative is a 2" supersprint system, they sound almost the same

Re: My New Runaround Saxo VTS
Thought i would update this i have been busy with sorting bits out for it and getting it to a good state and it drives so much better now than it did i'm actually enjoying it now.
Changed the rear axle for a fully refurbished one and powerflex bushes
Changed the front springs for koni 35mm loweing springs while doing this i changed the strut top mounts and bearing.
Now it drives great and no banging etc so very happy but i still have a long list of bits to sort.
Needs paint working sorting rear drivers side has milky laquer and chips in it, rear drivers side had dint and very deep scratches then there are very bad scratches all over the car.
Exhaust needs be to change and new rear bumper sourced and fitted
Exhaust blowing from where manifold joins downpipe
Needs New Lower Gearbox Mount
Going to change the linkages for steel ones
Need new rear tyres
Splice in new plug for oil temp sensor
Passenger side electric window goes down but only intermittantly comes up
Need to change the speakers rears not working and fronts are shocking
Few Piccys after a gave it a quick clean at weekend sorry for piccy took on my phone.
Exhaust waiting to go on!

Re: My New Runaround Saxo VTS
That looks shiny as fook! Does the Saxo have adjustable rubber stops under the leading edge of the bonnet? If so, looks like the one on the driver's side needs winding down a bit
And oil temp sensor? That's a bit swanky!
P.S. Piece of French crap etc, obviously

like this a lot. the wheels looks spot on. my mate got a saxo for his birthday. very impressed by the way it drives and the way it pull, even for a 1.1! been trying to talk him into getting vts alloys but he wants vtr's instead!

I hate VTR alloys the VTS ones just look so much nicer and not a common as the VTR ones.
If he has a 1.1 you might want to check if he has 3 stud.
