Re: My Polo - Help Please
sooo... i think its the rear passenger disk rubbing!
it looks like its rusted over where it wasnt in use by the old pads? if you get me, so could that cause the rubbing noise?

What? Wasn't in use by the old pads? If that's the case you've got a shagged calliper as there will always be contact when braking.

Re: My Polo - Help Please
no i mean the contact with the old pad? you can see where the old pads made contact but its only like 50% of the disc?
so the outer of the disk has a rusty sort of build up and is rubbing on the new pads?
EDIT:
discs looks similar to this...
http://www.qualitybrakesmiltonkeynes.co ... WEAR-2.jpg
and the new pads cover the whole surface area of the disc, so could that be the rubbing?

Re: My Polo - Help Please
Any light rust should come off with a bit of braking, if its thick on there you might want to get some new discs. I don't know why the garage didn't mention it to be fair.. But yeah, that's more than likely the problem

Re: My Polo - Help Please
Well at first the garage did the mot and failed it on rear braking effiency and the pads being excessivly worn - even though i gave them a set of brand new pads and told them to change them prior to the mot - so going by that im not surprised they didnt mention it.
wont be going back there next year, they wernt bad or anything, that just stood out as being stupid, and obviously with the condition of the rear discs you'd think it would have been an advisory, ill get a proper picture of them and you'll see. as ive checked and the build up is quite thick.

Re: My Polo - Help Please
mate as hard as it is to understand your paragraphs, yeah but i didnt see this page
tbh its scary that you modify cars, you know little about them
my advice, go back to the garage ask them to change the discs and with luck depending how long you've had the new pads things will even out, pads are far softer then the discs after all
but theres no way you should be replacing just pads when your discs look like that, must be a bunch of clowns not to inform you of that

Re: My Polo - Help Please
What has my car getting mot'd and me not being informed of the discs have to do with me modifying cars?
I never touch my cars unless I know 100% what to do - I don't Bodge my s**t together with dodgy soldering and bubbles wrap.
And I had no idea the discs were like that hence my disgust at the fact I was advised by the mot station.
Jony we've had this out before - keep your s**t comments to yourself mate because it causes arguments.
It's only you who finds it difficult because you're a welshy

No - the only arguments I have ever had on this site har been caused by you thinking you can say what you want then getting on the defensive about it when someone challenges you.

Re: My Polo - 13" minilites q's
Will 13" minilites fit over 256mm brakes? im 75% sure ive seen it done.
could it happen with a bit of caliper grinding? or will they just go over?
the guy im buying off was confident he had them on a lupo sport which is the same set up as my polo.
help please

they are iirc but only on 8v's as their brakes are 239mm, im hoping the will if not ill sell and get some different ones - theyre a bargain and cant say no.
i cant test fit as it takes 20 mins to get the jack under my car haha, dont want to waste the guys time.

Ah well what you do, is you get one person to operate the jack, and one to lift up the car by the wheel arch!! minilites would be good, also the polo would be stupidly low!!

with fords atleast, 260mm brakes need a min of 14s, even then its quite tight, my car is testament to this

Re: My Polo - 13" minilites q's
you see i thought this. the 14's i have on atm have plenty of space + the guy has sent me pictres of them on his lupo which has the same set up as mine... so as far as im aware they'll fit.
if they dont i may have to invest in a 266mm hi spec brake set up

They wont fit, they need coding to the ecu and keys as thats where the transponder is coded to. If you post them to me i can remove the coding so they just plug in and work but it will cost you.
