The plates are coming off don't you worry about that fella got some pressed one's to go on when its finished. They where on this car when I bought it a few years ago and the car hasn't really moved. I don't think I would be brave enough to drive up through the valley with English plates lol

I am getting there lads. Have got all the kit fitted and secured. Got the bumpers fitted and green strip fitted to the bumpers am still trying to find side mouldings. Fitted a old style ford badge to the bonnet.Have given it a good clean inside and out and i got to say it starting to look like a car again now . Jay that double sided tape is very good indeed fella. I used it for both bumper strips, sill plates, badge and tops of the side skirts and can't fault it fella very sticky indeed thanks for the heads up most appreciated.

I have temp fixed my number plates for you jon boy until my pressed ones are put on and to stop the locals doing my car just because there is English badges on it

I was fitting my headlights and when handling them the lens came off and smashed to pieces so have just bought one off ebay Also fitted my headlight protectors aswell.

After its first wash since being painted looks very nice indeed.

Just got to make my mind up now on what wheels to run. I have just primered another of the tsw wheels ready to be painted white tomorrow so i can get a better idea as to what they will look like. I have a vision in my head as to what i want it to look like and i don't think that without side mouldings that the RS2000 wheels will look right. A mate of mine is currently in the process of machining them for me so they will look fresh and like a mirror. Will get the other rim white tomorrow and make a decision. I could always use the rs rims for shows etc and the evo's for fun

ah thats a shame mate, still you can always get the replacment head light redone to match in.

tbh, i got my glass etched up, or should i say it was like that when i got the car in 98, and i would rather it wasnt etched.

if the back of that light is good, keep it mate, you might get one where the reflector is shot but the glass is ok, in fact i got a brand new head light in the shed and the reflector is gone in some places from being on a car with no rubber seal, but its worth keeping cos of the glass.

as for the kit, god help the person who trys to remove that

Its only the back arches which have been bonded on and i haven't used a lot of bond just where the original bolts would be. But the stuff i used to put it on with is very strong so it might cause issues. I can't see it needing to come off for quite sometime though. A couple of years until it will be having a ground up rebuild unless i win the lotto soon :( :( :( :( :(
Like i said i am new to all this bodywork palava and probably excessive with lots of things but so far so good.
The light should be with me wednesdayish so will decide what to do then. But its an original mk3 light off a 60k car. Will have a look into getting the new light etched aswell

etching is easy mate, had a kit myself where you literally scratch into the glass using a special file and stensils

Haven't done much since it was sprayed but managed to find green side mouldings big thanks to leeboy off here and fitted a new windscreen. I smashed mine taking it out  and the replacement I put in was one I had collected for AW3K. Since I am taking it to FITP for him I had to source a replacement. I found one with a top tint which was a fair old drive down to somerset to collect but it only cost 40 notes brand new and I think it looks great. Since my car never came with a heated screen I opted for this one because lets face it the car will never get used in the winter and the potch of fitting the loom for the screen just wasn't worth it. I have had a little set back as to finishing it as I have had some kind of reaction with the paint on the rear quarter where I had welded it on. I got 5 or 6 little bubbles under the paint. The only thing I can think of that's caused it is that prehaps the weld had rusted before I had the paint put on because the car was outdoors for about a week before it got painted in primer and primer is not waterproof. I wasn't happy with my repair anyway so at least I get to sort this time properly but I will wait until we got a week of good weather. I also was not happy with my repair on the boot as you could see where I had repaired it so I found a rust and dent free mk3 rs1800 boot for cheap money which will be painted the same time as the quarter. I have also got hold of a zetec s rear beam for free as there was Y plate in my local scrap yard and the owner owes me a favour so no charge :D :D :D . I will get some new trailing arm bushes for it and paint it up before fitting it though. I really wanted to take it to FITP but it hasn't happened :( :( :(
My new goal is to have it looking perfect for ford fair and combe so I got a couple of months to pull my finger out
Here's some pics anyway of it now. I wasn't to sure about the wheels white but I think they look good and will certainly do the job until my RS2000 rims come back from my mate who is re cutting them

I saw that screen on eBay. I'd never seen a top tint before :D

Glad you're getting it all sorted so you're totally happy. Nothing worse than the little things nagging in your head

Am still going up jon if you want to travel together. I am going up on the saturday afternoon to save leaving at daft o'clock Sunday morning. I am not driving aswell so will be getting a little drunk on the way :P :P Hope the weather sorts itself out though or its going to be messy.
Suppose I got accept the bubbling issues as I went into this totally blind as regards to bodywork but yeah its pi**ed me off some what. At least I got a second go at it because I wasn't happy with my repairs anyway so it should be perfect next time round
