My RS - Re Mapped and more goodies
in preparation for next weekend the car is stripped and ready to race
had it stripped anyway due to having the boot and rear 1/4 resprayed and having used gaz's products on it today they are mint! matched my roof back in to new red paint!
as you can see ive fitted my rear strut brace, and finally re sorted my cooling and its working well.
firat time i drove it properly today for nearly 2 weeks and thought is take some photos
not much of an update but with property looming not much spare ££ for major mods!

Looks smart. Whats that strut brace?
I was gonna get an OMP one as i canf find any others that bolt through the suspension and that is chunky! Wouldnt have it chrome though..

its a custom one from fusion, courtesy of rich_frst, now of no use to him,
indeed cant wait to the pod, need the brace to be welded in a couple more places but finally its fitted

Did it fit on ok or did you have to jack the car up or something?
Am tempted by one but think it will be slightly more expensive than the £45 of an OMP one!

Looks very nice Dave

Looking nice and clean! I love it when you take the interior out only to see lovely fresh paint underneath
I would like to use this thread to make a general announcement:
Will people please stop follow Adamski's gay-ass lingo and call it a strut brace, not just a "strut"!!!
Hopefully all your cars were already built with struts on them, otherwise you'd be dragging its ass along the ground everywhere you went!

sorry heeman my bad, amended now
max it was more expensive yes, i did have to make some adjustments and to fit it yes i have to lower the rear axle to let the rear shocks out the way and jack them through the brace.
mark, mines been stripped since the bodywork was done, so just not got round to refitting it all! mums not happy about my interior being in the front room

Re: My RS - time for an update 22/4
been quite a while since ive posted any pictures of the rs, working alot, not driving much and pretty poor weather all being a factor.
anyways, took the car out today and its certainly coming out more often now!!
since the last update i have put gaz coilovers on all round with 300lbs springs
re fitted my rear turret covers around the brace,
and got loads more to do!
been to the scrapyard today and picked up some goodies!
want to put the car closer to standar, so picked up some ambers. also another green relay as they tend to burn out. also a rocker cover to be powdercoated, strut tops to be powder coated and i also want to get the charge carrier powdercoated.
i want to get a standard rs bonnet and then i can put my headlight protectors on,
and once i overcome the offset problem of the rs2000 wheels and my coilovers then they will be on with r888's!
and the rs as it stands at the moment, the bonnet raisers are coming off as well!
i am going to get the other two wheels, but getting wheel locking nuts off in a scrapyard isnt easy without the right tools! so back at the weekend!!

What about those badges by the wings
Not sure if I'm going to like the new wheels tbh, May look a bit small and lost in the arches

Re: My RS - ambers fitted - 6/05
had today off and found some time to play with the rs again.
went out and got a rubber rocker gasket, and reasons will be shown very soon.
also did a oil and filter change.
so here are the results of the ambers being fitted, rs badges lost off the wings, a polish and guages are working apart from the oil pressure as its a total arse when you dont have the right size spanners!!!
the new ride height with coilovers, i want to go a bit lower but not too much more.
and the guages

Re: My RS - ambers fitted - 6/05
Everyone is going Amber's now
standard is the way forward. Mods go out the window for the classic fords now. Its amazing how a few little touches can give the car such more class.
Badges off the sides looks better..... so whens a standard bonnet reappearing

Nice one - Looks loads better with the ambers on, retro and original is the way to go now . I cringe when I look back at some of the "mods" I did to my Fiesta RS & XR MK3's back in the late 90's

Loving it Dave.
I do like the standard look but I think that some little touches like the mk3.5 mirrors, lowering and wheels make all the difference to these cars. They are beutifull to look at in standard trim anyway so too many visual mods ruin the look IMO.
Keep updates coming man

Re: My RS - new rocker cover and charge carrier - 13/05
just a little update...
received my rocker cover today from nomad and had my chargecarrier delivered last week. also got a rubber gasket to go on when the cover is fitted.
also went to a bodyshop today and had a quote for a new bonnet, front wings, slam panel and scuttle panel and to have it all sprayed in... need to save up for a little bit first

Re: My RS - MOT Failure, welding and MOT Pass!
The dreaded tin worm has attacked the RS, not bad for 17years old and 105000 mile old shell.
one hole in the passenger footwell and one in the rear inner sill.
so i was told it failed the mot on wednesday lunchtime, and then last night i went to the g/f's garage and played with a welder with the help of her dad.
not they've both been plated and i chucked it back in to the mot centre this morning. a phone call shortly after to say its passed!!
i will need some new sills at some point but as and when!
also picked up another set of super t's today, to make a full set back up and ill have a couple of spares for some slicks maybe...
cant wait for the Pod next sunday now!!
