FRSJON :...and get the brakes to actually do some thing as well...
If you can find a way of re-fitting an original Ford servo/master cyl setup then you will have much more effective brakes than you currently have with the remote bias pedal box which I too was not at all happy with.
The problem lies in the space taken up by the ST170 throttle body - this protudes into the space where the servo normally lives, so unless you replaced the whole inlet plenum with a more conventional type then you're stuck I'm afraid. The gear selector arm also fouls where the servo would live too - as I said before,The BMW Mini Cooper S ('02-06) used the same gearbox as yours but with a much more compact selector mechanism so swapping to this would free up plenty of space

cheeRS jimmy...im sure there must be a easy fix... as for the equipment this car has brake wise they should throw you through the windscreen.... im going to take it some where and see if anything needs adjusting/bleeding...

I have gone to hydrulic pedal box and agree its hard to get used to...
The fact that you need to actually put your foot through the floor to stop quicker lol.
Im getting the feel of it now, look into speccing a pad Jon that is suited to brakes with hydrulic pedal boxs.
Basically an aggressive pad, but the bias box wont highlight this like a servo set up would.
This is what i have been advised anyhow

I did mate
They work when you need then too but similary it does feel like they dont work...
At combe i passed a quick mk2 befoee the chicane was soo chuffed at the view of my rear mirror i carried to much speed
so planted my foot on the brake and locked them up... so they do work... but a specfic pad is needed.
Im not sure whom to speak to but il ask about and let you know.
......once i locked up at combe a managed to get through the chicane... the mk2 soon vanished too my heart beat matched the speedo too

The good thing about keeping it on the 17" rims is that the st170 speedo should be more accurate as the GEM is calibrated for the ST170 17" Rims

Re: my rs1800...m148 anj
well not much of a update..but the car is going in to have new sills at the end of january....it will also have the scorpion exhaust of my last rs fitted( cheers jay... ),twin rear anti roll bars..( jay again... )... and a full coat of red underneath...bring on the show season...santa pod first.... ...had a moment in the car the other day ... playing with a pug 106 gti...hit the limter in second... ... in third at 7k..went for fourth and stuck it in second.... .. lost all gears...nothing there at all.... .. luckily was carrying enough speed to travel the length of the dual carriage way..pulled over at the end..popped the bonnet expecting to find the gearbox in pieces...gear selector cable had come off... popped it back on and away we went... .. held its own against a evo 5 tonight...

Glad you're having fun with her!
Maybe the gear selector cables need some adjustment, I bought them new from Ford from about £70 so they should have some life still in them.
Goes really well once it's singing in the high revs doesn't it?! Seems to rev forever

Re: my rs1800...M148 ANJ
well as its stopped raining... i thought it was about time i started some tidying on the car...first up the rear wheel arch's got a coat of red...(pictures taken on a very crap camera .. )..
should of taken some pics before i put the wheels back on...
next up was a bit of engine bay tidying...so off came the rocker cover for lashings of more red...
next on the list to do is get the car on some ramps, take off the exhaust and paint the floor ....you guessed it...red... ..then mod my scorpion exhaust to fit...happy days...

..the camera is s**t..been under the car today...decided against painting the floor red ... ..just because of the amount of brake pipes,cables.etc...so ill touch up any parts that need it with black.....chopped up my scorpion exhaust ...looks like it will fit quite well.... .. have to get some poly mounts before i cut the old exhaust off though... ..will be doing more to the engine bay soon...
