Gay! Should be a 10 minute job though, glad it's nothing major. Have you used some boost yet?

I did ask if he could do it there and then for me but he's inundated at the moment with no helper monkey about!

It's ok though - I spoke to Simon and he's going to weld it back up for me (he knows exactly what bracket it is) tomorrow evening over at his workplace just after he finishes work - I'll be on fire duty inside the car

Car's booked in for it's retest on Thursday afternoon - so all going well I'll be turbocharged again! :D

Cheers,

Andy

Yep it's a fairly minor bracket, will just need welding at the two ends :) Fire duty...not something I ever want to have to do again! :aaah:

Good luck getting it all ready for trax mate, I'm well aware of your luck with this car so I've got all my appendages crossed that it finally comes together for you. :)

PS get back on msn at some point, your rants/essays on local history and the idiocy of old people are sorely missing from my life at the moment....

Cheers guys - it's not that bad at all really, when he said it failed on just 1 thing I thought he was going to say it was the emissions!

I've got the emissions readings here:

CO: Limits <= 3.5 % vol, actual value = .84% vol
HC: Limits <= 1200 ppm (parts per million) vol, actual value = 26 ppm (parts per million) vol

Well chuffed with that - I don't think that's far off the results needed for a car equipped with a CAT!

One good thing is that I haven't had to tax the car for the month of August

Grant - I'll be on MSN tomorrow dude, have some happier things to talk about for once :)

Nice readings. The joys of having a car properly mapped! ;) So it'll be good to go again on Thursday morning at the latest? Bonus! :D I still have no gearbox cradle, and no reply from the guy...four days before I have to make the 250 mile trip to Silverstone and the whole front end's all bare! :aaah: Argh!

What guy and what's he done with the gearbox cradle? :o

Friday morning is when the car will be ready, just got to get it cleaned up and the motorised touchscreen all in properly, not much at all really :D

It's funny - I took it to a different garage before (for the MOT attempt before Ford Fair) and both mechanics at the garages have said 'you've spent a hell of alot of money and effort on this car!' - I'm like 'err yeah' as I don't want to disclose too much about what it's got although it's quite hard explaining the difference between a plate LSD and a Quaife one (using gears instead)

Yeah...they always ask me "Oh, so what car does a Zetec Turbo come out of then?"

I had to modify my cradle for the Deflex mounts. I can't fit the Vibra-technics mounts with the modified cradle, so someone was sending me a normal cradle. Have only just thought....think I'll just put the Vibra-technics rear mount on and leave the Deflex front mount on for now...what a dumbass!!!!!! Right...off to work I go!! Can have it back on the ground and running in the morning, Bob's my uncle! :D

When booking my accommodation for Trax, I was asking about the woman if parking was secluded etc because I'm picky about parking etc....then she got on to ask what cars we have (I'm staying with Scort and Libs on the Saturday night just near the track) and I had to reply "A Fiesta and a Ka" and she laughed  We know our cars were worth that time and money....I think  :bonkers: Plod on Mandy ;)

Ahh right - gotcha, hope you get it sorted out mate, putting it back together as you said sounds like a plan!

Getting the brakes sorted on the Escort tomorrow morning (finally!) so I'll have 2 fully functioning cars! Can't remember the last time I had one car that ran properly tbh!

It's all fun and games!

I would send you one through the post but...

1) I don't have a spare one at the moment! :(

2) I doubt it would reach you after our last attempt at sending alternators via Royal Mail! Did you ever get that 1.1 one back? :oooh:

Get it fixed mate - I'm sure someone on here will have a suitable replacement!

Cool - you can get adapters to connect the loom up to round topped connector batteries, I had to get some to hook up my Mondeo V6 battery recently :)

Another bit of an update for you guys :D

Got the Escort's brakes fixed today - turns out the cause of the problem was actually the wheel hub nut coming loose! :o Christ knows how that happened - but it's fixed now and I have working brakes again.

As for the Turbo - got the welding of the bracket done a short while ago, but we also found another (relatively small) problem with the car. Where the reverse light switch has broken on the gearbox it's actually letting gearbox oil through, so I've got to get a new one of those tomorrow and get it fitted as well as top up the gearbox oil - bloody car never stops breaking!

Anyway - retest is later in the afternoon, so job's a good'un!

Cheers,

How has the reverse light switch broken to do that?? Bit concerning :-? Jack up the front of the car, take out the current one, top up the oil through the switch hole while the car's tilted back then bung the new switch in. 10 minutes :) My gearbox has leaked 100ml, apparently through the end casing. The bolts all took a bit of a nip up, so I don't know if that means they forgot to torque them all up after building it? :aaah:

Good luck tomorrow...hope you got to sleep ok in the end. A fat glass of Baileys did the trick for me at about 6am in the end  Spent about half an hour in the pouring Cumbrian rain this afternoon and now have a gearbox cradle :) Will get the ratchet clicking away tonight and build up as much as I can in the dark. Hallelujah! Hopefully we'll yet again share "a good day" tomorrow dude :aviator:

Had quite a productive day today - got the in-dash screen now mounted properly in the car :D

I've also set up the stand for the dash mounted screen so that I can show off the carputer at work to people whilst standing at the boot of the car :)

Cleaning the car tomorrow and doing a last few minute tweaks :D

My mate's alarm has a mental voice when you ring it up and talk to it. Sounds like an enraged Korean.

Your screen needs huge bars flashing "NOOOOS" and then "DANGER IN INLET MANIFOLD". Actually given your car, that's quite feasible... :P

Well - I made it to Trax ok and on time for once!

I didn't get to take any pictures at the show myself but Jamie took one of my car which looks really good :D

Image

I took the car out for a quick spin this evening and managed to get some camcorder footage. Unfortunately I didn't check the viewfinder before recording so the camera is zoomed in a bit meaning that the anti-shake didn't work! :x Oh well - I'll have to replace this video with something better next time :D

You'll need the DivX codec to view this file - right click and save target as (36Mb):

Fiesta RST running again at last! DivX - 36Mb

Enjoy! :)

Right - I've added a new video now in place of the previous one above!

The mount is still playing up a bit so the camera gets really shakey over bumps - looks like I'm going to have to invest in a proper one like heeman10's :)

Right click and save target as - 27.3Mb (DivX codec needed):
