My RST - nearly come to that time...
Bit of an update for you guys with a pic - the new turbo arrived from Turbo Technics today.
I thought the price was £460 + VAT but having checked the invoice I found it's actually £460 all in! So I'm chuffed to bits as that was the price for my worst case scenario.
So a big thumbs up to Turbo Technics - they discounted the fact that I bought a brand new .48 exhaust housing from them last year (at about £195 all in!) on this new turbo, so they sent me this new one out yesterday afternoon and it was with me at 9.30 this morning!
My mate Simon is coming around tomorrow night to fit the turbo back up and we'll give it a quick blast around the block to make sure everything is ok
Can't wait again - given me a bit more enthusiasm with it as it's always sad seeing your pride and joy in bits all around the house! (getting fed up with having to step over my front bumper to go out on the patio! ).
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks guys - turbo fitment has been put off until tomorrow now due to unforeseen circumstances, hopefully get the car MOT'd this weekend or at the beginning of next week, still cutting it really fine for Trax!
I'll take pictures tomorrow.
Cheers,
Andy

This is what it's all about, tight deadlines and mad work speeds! My radiator's leaving Pro Alloy in the morning, gearbox mounts and cradle are in the post, intercooler and fans are lying around next to the bumper, gear linkage is waiting to be removed, rebuilt and refitted, and lower arms need fitting and setting up! This is the modified life Go Mandy go! :D:D

Right, well the new turbo is fitted and everything is plumbed back in, but unfortunately my battery has gone flat in the week it's been disconnected (so looks like I need to get a new one after all - hopefully be able to exchange it) so we couldn't start the car up to test it out.
The batteries on charge now so I should hopefully be able to give it a test out tomorrow during the day.
I'll book it in for it's MOT when that's done and finger's crossed that's it!
A few pics for you of the new turbo in place - not going to bother heat wrapping it, might not bother doing it again, just gonna see how it goes.
Cheers,
Andy

Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy It's so much better being able to see the turbo and everything, I think they look great. It'll be interesting to see how it copes with temps with the elbow, downpipe and turbo unwrapped now....might rip all mine off if it can cope with it Make sure the turbo's primed before you fire it up again matey...I'm sure you have, just wanted to make sure

I had the car tested a few weeks ago and it didn't fail on rust - so no need for 1.1 type repairs on this car
My biggest worry now is emissions - the last MOT was done on the old management so I've no idea what it's going to be like on this setup!
Only other bits are pretty minor - sidelight bulbs blown, washer jet hose rubbed through and rear lights earthing is playing up. I would have sorted these things before the test but time ran out on me as I was having the car stickered up that morning and it took longer than anticipated, meaning I had to go straight from there to the MOT (which was a really last minute thing).
heeman10 - we've primed the turbo up ready, as instructed by TT themselves
Cheers,
Andy

MOT is booked for Tuesday now - unsure of time yet but will find out on the day.
I got myself a male-male VGA lead today to hook up the motorised screen and I discovered why the battery had gone flat - the bloody interior light had been on for about a week! Battery is on charge properly now without anything on so hopefully I'll be able to at least start the car up tomorrow to check all is well with the turbo.
I also got a load of bulbs today - will have a play with the earths on the back lights tomorrow, replace the washer jet hose, have a play with the tyre pressures and check for rubbing on that front nearside strut and that should really be it for the MOT
Cheers,
Andy

Doh! Interior lights If it was bright enough to be noticed on the Mk3 Fiesta it wouldn't be a problem! Glad you know the cause anyhoo
Good luck with your preparations over the weekend Mr H. I'll be away till Sunday night but expect to return to see lots of happy smily updates from you!

That's the thing - you can't really tell if they're on from the outside when it's dark, let alone a fully lit garage!
Never mind - just one of those silly things that happens!
Finger's crossed that it passes ok on Tuesday - need some good fortune with this car again now
Cheers,
Andy

Hi guys - sorted out the last few things today including getting the seatbelts through the bottom of the back seat squab and thought I'd check everything over with a longer test drive on the car - all seems ok apart from the header tank cap being a bit loose (nearly shat myself when water started bubbling out when I switched the engine off!).
Anyway - everything else is working ok and all the residual oil in the exhaust has now gone, just got to worry about CO emissions now
Cheers,
Andy

LOL @ header tank nightmare! Sounds like you took your heart for a power run too Bet it was going like a good un when that happened! Glad to hear it's getting around ok, though don't push it without an MOT, could get nasty....
What time's the MOT? Does it smell rich?

the amount of free advertising that andy will get from taking the car to shows stickered up will far out way any concerns about the cosmetics of the carWardogz :the stickers ruin a perfectly good car. with out them its a top notch fez

They're advertising for Andy's own business, so you just have to look past the stickers and see the car beneath No better way to show off your in-car electronics than to present them in a crisp looking car!

Hello guys,
Well it's failed it's MOT again, this time on a bracket that holds the handbrake cables together - it's come away from the floor pan and needs welding back!
Apart from that everything else is fine - should be able to fit it in for a retest by the end of this week (the mechanic said that's fine) so I'll hopefully be making my way to Trax in the Turbo this weekend! At long bloody last!
Cheers,
Andy
