My xr2.0i (27/02/08)couple of new bits
Hi,
I sold my 1.1 on here about a month ago and bought a 1990 xr2i off my mate. Just thought i would post some pics of it.
When i first got it, it came with lexus lights, mondeo spoiler, rear light brows, 5" essex racing universal exhaust and a bright blue 'colour coded' interior. Ive only had it about a month but in this time i have already put the original lights on, taken the mondeo spoiler off, got a 3" piper s/s exhaust, and have changed most of the interior back to black.
Here of a few before and after pics
This is how it looked when i first got it, i had already taken the mondeo spoiler off when this pic was taken
and how the interior used to look, most of the blue is gone now,
How she looks now
The only probelms i have found so far are that it sometimes jerks when accelerating and deccelerating. dunno what would cause that.any ideas??
At the moment most of the money spent on it seems to be on getting standard parts replaced, i need a new parcel shelf, heater vents, gear lever gaiter, petrol cap and surround, mk4 wiper.so if anyone is selling any of these parts please let me know cheers.
forgot to add a pic of how the rear looks now
Let me know what you think
cheers

Yeh, I like that, it's looking nice . Are you going to keep the bonnet as it is?
The problem similar to mine of being hesitant on accelerating could be as follows;
Potentiometer (What I'm changing now)
HT Ignition leads
Spark Plugs
Idle Speed Control Valve
Air to fuel ratio
Throttle cable tension
Maf sensor
Coil pack
Loose air box/air inlet
Cloged injectors (try some redex)
etc etc

cheers for the comments guys,
dunno about the bonnet, i didnt like it at first, may change for a standard one someday, not high on the list of stuff to do though.
i tried redex already, one of those 99p bottles, hasnt changed anything. Its got some random bolt on air filter on it, dont know if that could have anything to do with the juddering????
Cheers

just a quick update, replaced the voltmeter in the dashboard with the normal fiesta clock, and replace the old rs turbo spoiler with an xr2i one. looks good.
Am looking at getting some bonnet raisers, not for any performance enchancing purpose, just they look nice with a raised bonnet.
Cheers

Looking tidy. Thank God the Lexus lights have gone
Just 2 thoughts from me, I'd bin the Bad Boy bonnet and I think you went a touch too small with the tailpipe (looks better than the bus tailpipe though)

cheers, i reckon the badboy bonnet is ok, makes it that bit different from the other black xr2i's out there, will probably put a standard one on there soonish though.
i agree about the exhaust, i went for a 3" because it was the smallest size they did.could do with something a little bigger though to fill the space a bit more. maybe when ive got a bit more money.

It' because it's made of tinfoil and crisp packets The fiesta is made of metal (with rust and filler as well usually)

Ive seen french cars stand up to a crash better than Fords do.
scotty_boy :Maybe also because Ford couldn't engineer a performance engine if their lives depended on it :lol
So true. They even gotta get the Swedish to make their "Hot Hatch" be hot and go fast.

been a while since i posted any updates of my xr2i so here is a few pictures ive taken on the week before ford fair.want to get it looking good [ERRR] im on the 30 years of the fiesta stand, most likely to be in a popular place.
i recently bought a full powerflow exhaust from tonyblackfrst.(top bloke, drove for over 2 hours to make sure i got it before ford fair) unfortunately when i came to fitting it, it was slightly different in shape to the standard exhaust and wouldnt connect to the manifold properly, so ive had to leave it off for the moment till i can work out how to fit it
spot the difference
the car on the ramps with no exhaust, and very dirty.
took a few quick pictures of it while it is dirty [ERRR] it aint staying that way for much longer
and a nice shiny new strut brace for the rear.lovely.
more pics will be coming soon when shes all cleaned ready for sunday. opinions please as always.

after the problems with fitting the powerflow exhaust i decided to go out and buy a brand new ashley full system. fitting was quite easy for a novice like me, didnt come with any fixings or anything so i had to cut up my old exhaust to get the parts. fits like a glove to my ashley manifold and gives the car a lovely sound and feels a bit quicker too a few pics below show the improvement in the look of the tailpipe over my old piper backbox, looks almost standard
any comments welcome. next thing i want to do will be to strip the interior of the back seats and anything else i dont really need, should be fun.

Superb
Told you the Ashley would do the job.
Tailpipe still looks on the dinky side, think I've got far too used to 4" tailpipes. My FRST had a 3" when I got it but my brother sorted that out for me with an angle grinder and his welder
