its nearly there now, been nearly 2 weeks and yesterday we started it for the first time, after lots of little things stopping us, we got round to turning the key, and it runs, horribly, but its still not finished yet, so its a good sign.
i took a couple of pics today,
where shes been sitting for the last two weeks
new exhaust
im waiting on a reducer hose from burton at the moment, before the maf can be connected.

I've got to say that car looks so so SO very nice. Ive heard good things from Smo and I too would love to see it when the 2ltr is running well !
I'm selling my 306 to get another fiesta, I just hope I can find one that is as sexy as your beast Its always good to see another fiesta reclaimed back to how it was originally intended to be

That it was, Ive still got the number plate for it too :'(
God I miss that car so very much. Its like a little part of me died that day.
The rediculous name on FT.com is because "Gazz" was already taken and I never got a email confirmation for "gazado". Sorry, just feel I need to explain myself a bit there
Will be awesome to see your car in the flesh someday soon!

I used hot water and stretched my hose over the maf sensor took a while but works fine for me. Really need to upgrade the 1600 inlet and exhaust though cos there very restrictive lol.

gazz- i know the feeling, hopefully you will be back with a fiesta soon though.
jam- ive got a reducer on there from burton, fits snuggly. i know the 1.6 inlet is restrictive, but that is only being used until i sort out enough money for throttle bodies

right its all running smoothly now, the poor idle was caused by not having an O ring on the third injector, hence the rough idle etc. The oil pressure problem has also been sorted. ive been out already having some fun, pulls nicely, cant help but feel the 1.6 inlet and throttle body is making it hold back but still
my new insurance policy also covers me for trackdays
Took a few pics of the final stages of the conversion
new exhaust sitting correctly
final touches
need to give her a clean now
just to mention smo is a legend and without his help i doubt this conversion would have gone ahead, also need to thank bakewell001 for his help getting the engine in, and gazadoo for supplying alot of the si parts (still owe you money for those )and anyone else who has supplied parts or given me advice while the conversion has been going on.

Good news!! :D:D
When are you changing the inlet and throttle body over then? And why did you fit them? How did you sort the oil pressure problem?

ill change to rs1800 or xr2i 16v items as soon as i can get enough money together (or i get hold of a few hundred quid and buy throttle bodies ),i fitted the si bits as they were avaiable along with all the other bits i needed and to save time and get it working seemed the easier option.
not sure exactly how the oil pressure problem was sorted, i think it was down to the wiring in the end, im sure smo can explain it better, im pretty sure it was the wiring to the sensor though.

Surely a 2.0 inlet/TB/MAF sensor can be picked up for £30-£40? Glad the "oil pressure issue" was just wiring! If only that were always the case!

i did think it was going to be something terminal when there wasnt any pressure so happy i was wrong
ive got the tb from the mondeo to modify, its running a 2.0 maf, so just the inlet manifold to get hold of which i will be doing asap

Henry's got the TB and MAF (you have to run the correct MAF with the 2.0 ECU for it to run right anyway), he's just a wuss and won't modify the 2.0 TB yet because he's scared of ending up without a throttle body altogether I have a 1.8 inlet here he can use, but the idea was to make sure the engine would run perfectly fine on known-to-be-good parts first And now we do, things can be changed over.
The oil pressure thing is an odd one. With the 8v XR2i engine loom, and early 16v engine looms (and probably others), the oil pressure switch is effectively fed directly to the engine/car connector. However, we wanted to use the Si engine loom for the 2.0 Mondeo ECU, which appears to have a slightly different way of doing things. The oil pressure switch feed runs off to another connector (something I didn't notice when ripping the engine loom out of the Si - didn't really have the time to make notes ) and then off to elsewhere. So what I did today was to put the feed directly into the car/engine loom connector on the engine loom, just as it is on the earlier looms. And now it works lovely

thats what i meant to say
just to mention that while this conversion has been going on ive kept a spreadsheet of the parts ive had to buy, their cost and where ive got them from, if anyone wants a copy of it,to give them an idea of whats involved before they start it.

i have these sitting in my garden, so i thought id try them on my car
106 s2 rallye steel wheels, on 185/55/14 tyres
trial fitted:
i love the look of them, there 6j which is slightly wider than my current 5.5j xr2i alloys. they fill the arches perfectly and should give me much more grip, just need to get some steel wheel nuts before i can fit them properly.
comments and opinions welcome
