Its not often i see a Xr2i in this condition that actually looks like my original brochures. So i thought i would share these pics.
Totally Mint - i wish mine still looked half as good as your one
This one is from a German brochure. hence the wrong side reverse cluster.
Check out the detail in that engine bay - not a spec of dirt, oil or rust
Optional extras
Get a mint set of Blue side strips and it will look spot on. Loving the standard look. Henry, has yours got the plastic bumper grill which sits next to the bonnet catch ?

knuckles-cheers mate, i had a set of the blue side strips, i trial fitted them, but for some reason i think it was because i couldnt get them lined up properly, but they never looked as i wanted them to, so i sold them on. it did have the grill, but two of the fixings had broken so i took it off, wouldnt mind getting a new one, but havent really looked into it though.
Nice brochures, i have a few, wish my engine bay was that clean!!
Seems i have 3 of the 4 optional extras
I got this for christmas not sure why its a left hand drive
Bakewell- cheers mate, yeah id be up for meeting up, just let me know when. Im free most sundays

i recently bought some vibratechnics gearbox mounts off dazza, i got round to fitting them today. They make such an improvement, the acceleration is instant now, my exhaust no longer sounds like its blowing on acceleration, and my gearbox makes a whining sound on acceleration and deceleration i took a few pictures while i was fitting them...
muddy cradle, got cleaned before it was put back in
the mounts before they were fitted
and the front mount in place, couldnt really get a good angle to take a picture of the rear mount.

Good stuff Mr. H, I just hope that whining is healthy
Need you to take me out in it I think, see what the difference is like

Mr.S- they make such a difference, everything feels so much more precise. next time we meet up you will see what i mean......
PMK3- not wanting to do things by halves i went for the competition mounts. The vibration on idle is bearable, and at cruising speed is barely noticable. They appear to have sorted most of the niggly problems i had before i changed them, including the occasional juddering when i slow down. well worth the money. PM dazza off here, he sorted them out for a good price for me.worth a try.

Glad they have suited you, most get scared off by 'competition' or 'heavy duty' mounts but I dont think there too much different from the Road ones.
Was meaning to comment on your car awhile a go after the 'XR photoshoot' pics as its looks mint. Goodluck with the car

The cvh is still a good engine and has been very reliable so far, but it still leaves me wanting more power, and so there was the option of either tuning the n/a cvh, putting an rs turbo engine in, or putting the 2.0 engine in. after alot of thought ive decided to put a 2.0 zetec engine in it.
i sourced the engine at the beginning of the week and paid a bit extra to have it delivered, it came today....
so i took the shrink wrap off and had a look around it
it looks ok at so far, ive been told the milage is 85,000. ive taken off the engine loom and ecu,and the injector loom this afternoon
ive never done an engine conversion before and so this is all new to me, but im not doing it on my own so hopefully i will be learning things as i go along. i set a rough target for doing the actual transplant for the easter holidays, that might be a bit optimistic as i still have a few parts to get hold of before i can get on with it, but if it all goes as planned then i will be very busy during the easter holidays.

cheers mate, i wont be tuning the 2.0 before it goes in 110bhp-130bhp is enough of an increase in power for the time being for me. Eventually i would like to look into throttle bodies but thats a long way off yet.
yeah i wouldnt mind the plastic grill if you have one at the right price.

Have been busy with the fiesta today, over the last few days myself and simon(smo) have been changing the mondeo bits over to fiesta zetec bits e.g sump, pick up, flywheel. As it was finally all ready to go in today myself, simon and steve(bakewell001) got it all together and put in the car.
Started off nice and early by getting the old cvh out, suprisingly it all came out according to plan, and we were able to get the gearbox and clutch off. Then in went the zetec, we fitted the cvh gearbox and clutch etc, and bolted it into the car.
couple of pictures of the zetec, before it went in
and in the engine bay
currently its all bolted into the engine bay, needs the new wiring loom and ecu connected, water and fuel hoses connecting, inlet pipe and air filter fitting, exhaust sytem and manifold bolting on, and the starter putting back into place. Im happy with todays progress, old engine out and new engine in all in one day.
many thanks to simon and steve, cheers guys

To be fair, I think James would have actually attached the filter to the MAF too, but I got carried away and wanted to get that git on myself, therefore stealing that all-so-important job
