My xr2i for sale, big spec, owned for the last 9 years
I am selling my xr2i after 9 years of ownership.
It's in very very good condition and I have spent a small fortune on it
Current mileage is 109,000 and I have loads of previous mots with the car.
I bought the car on 104,000 miles. Within the first week I had ordered the following
Ashley 4 branch manifold
Kent cam kit cvh32 fast road
Mongoose stainless steel exhaust
Samco silicone coolant hoses and jubilee clip set.
Drilled and grooved front discs
Ebc green stuff front pads
Ferodo rear shoes.
Performance air filter
New master cylinder
The original plan was to fit all the items to the car and existing head. By the time all the parts had come, I had been offered a stage 1 ported and polished head that had recently been put into CTM's in dagenham. My friend was competing in stock cars, he had the head done and the regulations changed on the specs of the group he raced in.
I bought this head and set about buying head gasket set, new head bolts etc.
The downside to it was - the head was for an MFi cvh, not an EFi. I then purchased a billet spacer plate that allowed an MFi head to be spaced away from the injector rail - allowing the injectors to function.
The car is noticeably quicker over a standard xr2i what with the head, cam, 4 branch manifold and filter. I also have a superchips chip to go with the car.
At just over 104,000 miles the head was replaced, cam fitted and run in and all the nice bits added. A couple of months later my friend broke a fiesta rs turbo - this had a chrome rocker cover with the rs turbo plaque on it. I bought this and this went onto the car straight away.
Within a year I had sourced a very nice set of 90 spec S2 RS turbo recaro's. Which are currently in the car in extremely good condition. Steering wheel is original and has no chunks or damage
Clutch was replaced too and obviously still has tons of life in it
The car had suffered the usual mk3 fiesta filler rot. A new panel was bought from movac in Harold wood and subsequently all rot was captured out and the new panel welded. The car was re painted in original radiant red as the original paint was a little faded. This was carried out around 7.5/ 8 years ago and the car has been garaged since. Hence is still vibrant.
I have driven the car just under 6,000 miles a in my ownership.
It has appeared twice on display at ford fair and had been to numerous Saturday night Southend cruises back in the day.
The car is original visually bar - mk4 fiesta parcel shelf, fiesta RS turbo bonnet with vents, recaro's, ford focus triangular side repeaters and I fitted a mk4 escort centre console with chrome gear gaitor surround, leather gear gaitor, later shape fiesta gear knob and mk4 escort handbrake console and a set of Lockwood White dials.
The car does require a couple of minor bits
NS window does not work
The little plastic covers that go on the heating sliders are missing.
Inside requires cleaning where it had sat around - I will try get this done before it sells.
It is mot'ed until December 2015. I have just put a brand new exide excel premium battery on the car with 3 year warranty.
I've lost my garage to store it in and I don't really use it enough to warrant keeping it anymore. I bought the car in my early twenties and spared no expense on it. In those 9 years I've hit my 30's, got married and got a mortgage that has to come first. Considering the lack of use and commitments financially - it's a little toy that I can't justify keeping. Car is currently on my in laws drive to help me out with storing, but it's in the open as shown in pictures.
