My Xr2i rally car project :)
Hi folks,
Im new on here, my names Ruaraidh and I stay near Inverness,
just bought this xr2i about three weeks ago to use for forest rallying, I've got my license and everything sorted out so I have about 6 months to get the car fully converted for the scottish rally championship 2014 which starts again in February.
A friend of mine also has an xr2i rally car which he uses in the same championship so it should be good fun!
Heres a few pics of the work so far
this is when we picked it up ( and drove 620 miles home from Aldershot! )
starting to remove the interior, the rear floors are fantastic! shame the sills and front floor corners aren't so good! haha
The OMP cage for it
Bodykit removed passenger side
Sill was a bit rotten
New sill on after repairing inner sill
all ground down seams sealed and painted
Bodykit back on, the rivets are for two reasons, the previous owner had cut away the arch lips to lower the car a rediculous ammount, so they had just been bonded back on after removing the arch lips, so they are now rivetted on for this reason, and also to make it far stronger for rallying as they will be getting a fair ammount of stuff thrown at them and now and again probably being caught by the wheels (hopefully we wont be hitting too much hard enough to cause that but forest rallying can get pretty bumpy!)
these are the dodgy old springs we took off
Avo coilovers cleaned up and painted with new 200lb springs
And now on to the rather rotten drivers side! :/
More updates to come soon

Thanks very much! Getting the drivers side sorted might take a bit more work, but it's quite a good shell really!

Old thread resurrection alert!!!
Any updates on this one. Building my FRST to basically the same spec as this 2i albeit it won't actually be used on any rallies etc.
interested in what sump gaurd was used, what prep to chassis (stitch welding etc) and also the layout of additional gauges and switches etc.
cheers Chris
