my XR2Tii project.. ..*BIG PIC*
The 'New' front suspension has been mounted.. so are the lights in the bumper
What a job with those Deflex PU's in the lower arms..
The koni's look as new (-:
Also sprayed the bulkhead plates.. and fixed the loom to it
This wasn't easy to fit it all in the small spaces available, the loom is a RHD loom, converted to LHD.
The Mapsensor plate holds it all toghether :-p
Not much space there .. loom, Power boost valve.. and the strut brace will claim it's space too
Fixed the Inlet manifold back on .. after a respray in silver (yeah .. i know.. i'm getting a chromed one soon)
The Rocker cover will get the same silver colour... for now..

Well, another weekend.. another update..
Been busy with the some of last pieces of the underside of the car.
The gear linkage is in place, and the exhaust is mounted (with the temporary back box)
Bought some "anti-drone" coating .. to coat the drivers side (left) footwell, the doors, the back pannels etc.. everything that needs anti-droning
Bought it at a machine factory for nearly nothing. informed at an auto-part shop.. it would have cost me 4x as much if i bought i there.
And as I am dutch :-p i want it cheap.. :-p
The rocker cover is sprayed.. a chromed one would be nice.. but this does not have the highest priority.. the project is already a bit over budget..
but to stop now would be shameful.
The zorst has gotten a 'new' downpipe (Scorpion) of my brother in law to be zorts.
He mounted a S2 RST scorpion zorst underneath his XR3i cabrio .. and could use the downpipe..
Well .. i could.. :-p
With some modding it fitted perfectly ..
Here the newly sprayed rocker cover and the "anti-droning" plates (1000mm*900mm) for less then a fiver a plate
The downpipe (not fully fitted)
It had some kind of filling ring fitted )-: sizing down the hole from 2.5" to just 1.75"
My former T3 downpipe didn't have this 'curly' filler ring.. so i fitted it without this ring..
(cold fit) and it seems to seal perfectly.
The downpipe fits OVER the rest of the zorst (the former downpipe fitted insite the rest of the zorst)
Had to mod the new downpipe. cut it down to the right length, and grinded some slots in to form a flange
It fits perfectly over the original (widened) flange of the mid-section.
A clamp will to the job.
The new downpipe is .25" to .5" wider the the original one... so the lag of the T3 will be less.
Also the Inox looks much better than the rusty original one.
see for yourself
The magnex zorst is in place, shaved a bit on some speed-bumps.. but nothing serious.
The original Magnex back box fitted. Just for the drive to the zorst company ..
It's 2" to short and will burn my back-bumper if fitted normally.
It will be lowered down for the trip.. and then replaced by a L+R exit 3.5" round inward rolled zorst system.

Time to build up the engine again.
Removed the 'old' rocker cover..
surprise!!!!
Well.. noticed it already ?? .. no ??
Clean .. nearly no oil residue or what .. well it was a surprise to me.
The fresh rocker cover in place.. suits right in, mounted the throttlebody too
The strutbrace popped back in place without damage with the bright help of a screwdriver and a piece op cloth
*(insert ghey rap term)*(insert ghey rap term)* starts to look shiny
Also fixed the lower brace (no pics) .. and noticed i missed a piece of metal between the brake servo and the steering housing.. whoops.
so also put that back in place.

Haven't had much progress last week .. and then again .. we have..
Lot's of trail and error stuff when making brackets etc..
The rad is in place, the IC is too.
New brackets had to be made.. because of the T3 conversion we did 2 years ago.
When the rad fan went on before ... the whole car began resonating.. now all is fixed with rubber.. so that should be a thing of the past.
Been fixing some hoses and pipes.. .
My "father in law to be" is great with bodypanels bumpers etc.. but he was a bit confused when fixing the plumbing :-p
The new rad brackets..
just some U shaped brackets.. into which the stands of the rad fall.
The second stand is borrowd :-p from another rad (same for the top bracket)
The result.. with IC in place
Just needs a good polish
Hoses not yet fixed right... But no-one died :-p
now i have a Turbo which feeds itself .. and is cooled by the intercooler.. and the rest of the engine.. normally aspirated!!
Will fix it up tonight..

My father in law to be.. and myself haven't been lazying around..
The engine bay is nearly finished
adjusted the intercooler exit tube.. because of the T3 conversion the pace intercooler moved forward en down and te angle changed
to compensate this the tube had to be extended and moved up a bit..
this is the before situation .. with the IC-> Chargecarrier hose in it's near natural position.
The hose of the air-filter -> Turbo was weak.. and had to be replaced..
my father in law to be had some aluminium laying around.. and came up with a creative sollution.
Well.. i'm pretty happy with the result.. the PiperCross filter looks great too..
Because the Battery is being moved to the boot.. there had to be a central 12V point.
well.. this is it.. the wires have been sorted now (not on pic)
it was to good to be true.. the position the filler-tube of the window-wash-tank was already taken by the 12V point.
with a bit of heat.. the filler-tube is bend and thus creating a new location for it..
Then the inner-arches could be put back in place.. after cleaning them from bodycoat and paint (got them from the scrappy)
what a hell of a job..
but then the wheels could be put back in place.. and the car could be lowered on them
a bit out of place .. but welded the one rust spot on the floor panels..
just needs some finishing..

Hope i don't scare you with the next pic.
The rear bumper needed a sanddown too..
The Front bumper needed some re-inforcement ..
The man @ work .. without him .. this project wasn't possible
The anti-droning plates being moulded in place
Cut some strips of about 4"
And stuck them to the doors, and rear panels..

well.. the engine is connected.. ..
the fluids have been poured in..
the battery is fully charged..
the key turned..
nice engine sound.. !!!!!!! .. temperature is rising.. and reaches the N of NORM.. .. the fan starts to turn..
The engine seems to have survived the 6 months of standing still .. without any probs..
the battery (in the back) is beïng charged.. the started motor does it's job nicely ..
Jur is Happy

Fantastic, great news to hear that it is running!
Also that induction pipe is pretty much perfect, straight run into the turbo, you can't really get any better than that, should really enhance the sound of the engine too, should hear the turbo spinning up really well

Whats that insulation your using called? (the anti drone plates)
The thing I do hate about Fiesta is that they are so creaky and loud compared to newer cars. I know its to be expected, but its still annoying!

now that we can't do anything more on the outside.. under the bonnet is nearly finished.. the interior was at turn..
It was quite a mess .. but after some cleaning up .. we could start ..
and we managed to get pretty far in one day ..
the left door you've already seen partially stuck with anti-droning plate.. now both doors and both rear panels have been treated..
Now the internal wireing had to be 'straightened out' .. by sticking it to the floor panels.
The dash, the clocks, switches and steering colomn got a further buildup.
Also the silver painted heater outlets have been mounted
The rear-seats and the rear panels are in place.. as are the parcel-shelf-panels.
It's still a bit of a mess, but to give you an impression of the dash

It's Lead-bitumen plate.. with self sticky back .. (bit tar like)
Clean the panel, heat up the plate using a paint-remover.. of blowdryer . Remove the protective sheet. and stick it on .. and mould it into shape..
job done..

Another day .. another update.. this time without pics for the moment.
Dash is completly installed .... although the clock and heater panel aren't blue-lighted yet.
All switches (incl my own 2 stage boost control button) have blue lights (interior and signal light)
The centre radio console is back in place.
The drivers seat (left due to LHD) is in place.
The ceiling lining is in place (still 'grey')
The drivers side wireing is fixed..
the centre console is in place.
And.. the car is cleaned out (all tools and excess items are removed) .. and ready to go to the bodyshop for it's final paintjob..

Well,
no pics, but still an update
The frontbumper is fixed.. with some adjustments .. so are the headlights and indicators..
All (slightly) tinted windows are back in place.. and so is the sunroof.
The exterior is nearly finished, just need to mount / fix:
- rear bumper
- side repeaters
- front whipers
- whiper-fluid jets front
- antenna
The interior is not that finished yet.
Need to fix / mount:
- passenger seat
- audio installation (radio, amp, cd changer, speakers)
- guages
- finishing of the 'blue led' interiour lighting
and last but not least.. i need some XR2i 16V/RS1800 doorcards )-: my FRST ones are the wrong colour.. and are a bit in bad shape )-:
so if someone has some mint/near mint XR2i 16V/rs1800 doorcards (with handle) without the hole of the window opener. And the like FRST fabric striped fabric (it's just off compared to the FRST ones) .. give me a 'call'

Not much of an update.. but then again .. yes a big update.. but hardly any photo's ..
these are intentionally left away from the internet..
it would me much more of a surprise to 'show my car to the world' in real life.. and when it's 'finished' then in the building up phase..
The 'how it's done' pics though have been published on internet.
For pics of the complete car.. come and see @ FITP .. as it looks like the car is pretty much finished by then (a project is never finished though)
ok .. now the update..
Well .. the side repeaters are near finished to put onto the car (had to adjust some things for this)
The rear bumper is in place.. and even with the 'standard' 3" Magnex zorst .. it looks "tha bomb" if you ask me.. ..
The antanna (MK4/5) is in place.. and suits the rest of the styling..
And now some pics :-p
The white rear lights.. as before
And as modified.. and fitted with silver vision (need a red silver vision one too for the rear fog though.....and ehhm .. my fog is on the Left hand side... due to the car being a LHD .. of you wondered .. my reversing light is on the right
And last but not least.. the 'modified' side repeaters

RS_Rawli :how the hell did you get that washerbottle top to fit? mines still in a bag in the car
ehhm .. take out of the plastic bag.. and fit it (-:
This is the Inox washer bottle top .. (with a rubber ring on the inside)
It fits great...
But my central 12V connection was in the way .. so i had to move the filler-neck a bit (heating the lower end.. and bending it)
But what seems to be the problem with your washer bottle cap ?

RS_Rawli :the caps too small to fit over the fcukin neck of the bottle
gonna have to file the edge off the washer bottle i think
It needs a little 'force' to get it on .. but not much

Saterday was the day..
The festers first day out... since long time.. and she survived.
We went to my sisters (90 miles drive single trip).
Just some minor details we have to fix before hitting the road again.
The car is a bit tilted backwards.. even with then Eibach springs and Koni shocks.. So we have to go and lift the back.. to get it level with the front.
No i don't want her to be that low.. with all the speed bumps in holland.
When we 'hit' some bumps on the motorway the tyres touched the rear pannel leaving a scratchy noise.. . so this we'll have to solve.. a solluition is at hand.. so no major problem.
The ICE needs to be 'tuned'. The front speakers miss there tweeters still .. and the amp isn't adjusted right yet.. but we have sound (-: The CD changer and amp are on their spot.. and so is the (way to big) subwoofer
After alligning the wheels (don't know how it's called in english .. but it concerns: Track, Camber etc) the steering wheel isn't positioned in the centre position yet.. Also for this we have a simple sollution. Just adjust the steering wheel to the steering rack .. take the joint off, turn the steering wheel .. and put it back (-:
The gearbox was adjusted by me (-: and was nearly perfect.. without testing it.. The only slight problem we have is not getting it into 5th gear properly .. it will slip into it.. but not without some slight force.
Just need to adjust it a little bit..
Had a minor coolant leak from the hose that is attached to the waterpump. Like said.. just minor.. tighenting the clamp will fix this
All in all a good performace.. and without any other doubts..
Engine is running smooth, with the right boost, so no adjustment needed at that point
Suspension appart from the back end lowness looks good. no troubles at that point.
Wednesday the new back box with dual exit will be created
So it will look like it's be ' finished' to meet you all @ FITP this year.
For now still no pics from the outside. If you want to see it come check it out at FITP :-p
Pics from the inside.. and the ' new' bottom i will show you ..
enjoy :-p cause i do when i see the result
A ' new' handbrake handle cover.. borrowed of a MK5 escort.. with some minor adjustment it looks so much better
The bottom. Fresh body coating (well .. ehhm 3 months ago) and some fresh paint on the suspension parts and fuel tank ..
A brief look into the 'rough' boot..
On the left the battery .. on the right the WAY to large subwoofer.
