j_man69 :i know this may sound dumb but, what is mapping
and why so expensive
Hi Mate,
Mapping is when a tuner takes your car out and 'maps' the fuel and air mix together to the correct mixture for combustion. The map changes due to loads and loads of variables and depending on how good your tuner is depends how good your map is for accuracy.
The reason its so expensive is usually because firstly you have to pay for the modification to either your ecu (Like in my case, Motorsport Developments are putting a new chip in and stuff) or the hardware such as a new ecu. Then you need the tuners time to take the car out and adjust the ecu's settings for the correct map for your engine, this can take a long time with lots of testing!
That help you out?

Been shopping, at the worst place ever!! Fiesta Frenzy, i can't help but spend cash there!
Getting ready for collection is one rebuilt gearbox with Quiafe ATB, one new set of GAZ coilovers with Road and Drag springs, a pair of IH lower arms, and a Fiesta Frenzy Zetec Turbo clutch to replace my AP.
That hurt mr visa!

Woooah steady on Matt! I've a feeling I may end up doing something similar. I spoke to Bernie at CTS about that clunking I had from my gearbox...he suspects possible sun gear damage, but thinks there MAY be a possibility with some oil in it and gentle use for a few miles, I'll be ok. If not, it's off to them for a rebuild, and it'll be hard not to get an ATB in it!! Just tell me yours is rubbish and makes it understeer loads ok? How many miles left to do?

Thanks

It's been 400 miles for aaaages! MOT's are kind of handy Mine's up at the end of May....and I'm booked in at MSD around June Very annoying...the CAT-less exhaust may cause problems

Mines on Friday, fingers crossed it'll be ok, then i can book in at MSD and do the 400miles in two weeks easy on the way to work!
Cat-less exhaust? Is the car new enough to need one? I should be ok on emissions, MSD set my emissions to legal pre-running in.
Thanks
Matt

Ah you should be fine on your MOT if your emissions are already sorted. I guess you take care of it well enough to pass on all the basic stuff!
Mine's a 1993 car, so it's supposed to have a CAT. If the emissions are ok (should be, cos it'll be on FRST injectors and lean as hell) then hopefully it will be overlooked. 400 miles in two weeks? I'd be doing that every weekend if I had that thing!

I was going to say to you the other day that it's a very bad idea to run the car on bigger injectors wihtout being setup - drive carefully on the standard blues.
How do you think I got to Ford Fair last year? Standard blues and OFAB management driving a maximum of 3000rpm or so (ok I may have gone over in a few places lol).
The car's looking good Matt - not long now eh?
Cheers,
Andy

Andy - Yeah, I'll have to burble the 60-70 miles down to MSD with no boost and twinkle toes on the accelerator! I'm absolutely dying to finish it...dying just to get over the small hurdles, like knowing the fuel pump works, and being able to turn the engine over...then start it . This is gay! My mate's gonna be at Lydden on April 9th for a sprint in his 205 GTI, get some vids of him driving like a woman!

Yeah? I would book a track day there as I reckon it'd be quite cheap but the tarmac track is a bit boring - I'd wanna do the rallycross section (I knew there was a reason why I was going to keep the 1.1! )
Sorry for the thread hijack Matt!

Don't worry about him, he's in the corner pooing himself pre-MOT
1.1 rallycross, quality Do you know Three Sisters near Warrington, Cheshire (I think ) Andy? I did a track day there with my dad and his Caterham, smallish track (about 25-30 seconds on the day I think), but not expensive. Something to consider when you're going South after Scotland perhaps!

Hi Matt,
If you mean the last time i drove anything, it was this morning I have a Mondeo TD as a runabout. The last time the fiesta was driven was about 3 weeks ago, before i decided to change to the Livemap management and change the TPS sensor. Back then it was still running in, no more than 3krpm, nice and slow accelerations, no boost so probably 50-60bhp
Before i started the conversion, it was a 165ish fiesta, it had a Bayjoo 165 chip, Kent cam, ramair filter and scorpian exhaust, that was it. I blew a piston land and decided to go 16v.
Cheers
Matt
P.S Hyjack away lads, i don't mind, i'm still chewing my fingernails off about the MOT tomorrow, 3pm, wish me luck

Ah, that wasn't too bad at all. The only failure point was a bit of corrosion on the off side rear sill, about the size of a 1p coin, doesnt even need the body kit off to weld it up.
So i spoke to my local trusty bodyshop and its £100 to fix it including a full body buff, wash and wax, because i want it mint for the show season. Being fixed on Sunday so i'll try and get some pics of it after its polish
Pretty happy.

That really is a good start to things Once those 400 miles are rattled off and it's all set up and ready to go, your summer's gonna be a blinder! I truly hope I can make it to some of the same shows in my own car and have some road trip fun perhaps

Had the car welded up today at my local friendly bodyshop, and whilst it was there i got them to give it a full wash, wax and body buff, its totally blingin'!!
Anyway, here's the pics i took of it today, pretty random ones too You can see the car doesnt sit level at the moment, i'm pretty sure the springs/dampers are shot, good job i've got some coilovers on the way from Mr Howell
EDIT: Please visit http://www.streetdragster.com for guide

Thanks

You clearly don't read Max's posts Matt!!
The car looks lovely and clean now, good to get it fully out of "project mode" all dusty and stuff I trust the header tank cap is off for a coolant level adjustment, not problems? I'd forgotten I may have issues with front-end access with the radiator....don't wanna have to chop that chassis bar off!

Your right, i don't read max's posts, maybe i should start
Yep, header cap is just off to top up the coolant now the airlocks have gone, no problems to report
Chassis bar? Do you mean the slam panel that i have made removable on mine? I'ts definately worth doing if you don't mind the look afterwards, would have been a total ballache to access my rad with the engine in if i hadn't cut it.
Guess i best get a MSD appointment booked, do these 400 miles now and get the new gearbox, clutch, lower arms and coilovers on asap before the mapping session
Thanks
