N/A and F/I - air filters

Postby fiesta_fras on Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:47 am

having a disagreement with someone at the mo, about air filters, he says you can have a smaller air filter on a turbo as they suck air in, and wont cause a restriction but N/A benefits from a larger air filter as it needs all the help it can get to suck air in.

I know where he is coming from, but judging by the size of cossie filters and such im guessing turbos benefit more from air filter size.

thoughts & discuss :)

Sure, turbos actually suck the air in, but they move a much greater volume of the stuff, so any flow restriction will have a greater effect on the overall flow

you have more grounds for arguement if you completely reverse that statement, N/A actually suffer negative effects from a filter being to large as they rely on air speed/volocity where as you cant really go to big on a turbo

oh and all engines suck in air,

please excuse my crap spelling too
