NEED 1.8/2.0 ENGINE ADVICE ASAP!!!

Postby siace on Sun Jan 15, 2006 6:26 pm

Right, if you know me, you know im doing a 2.0 conversion on my fezzy si. so far been unsuccessful in finding a 2.0. But i have been offerd a 34k 1.8 (130ps) engine, mint!. Its in a crash damaged mondeo and the whole car is being given to me for nothing. What i want to know is, is it worth me holding out for a 2.0, or is the 1.8 just as good???

I will obviously be modding it, id like to see about 150-160 as i am looking for reliable power. any info soon would bee good guys!!!

The 2.0 is going to have more torque and gives the option of going the Zetec turbo route.
2.0 Zetec Fiesta Si. Nice.

im not too worried about torque, i can have a chip and exhasut made up to help keep that as high as possible, its the the main power potential, am i loosing out on alot by going 1.8?

A 1.8 is great, but a 2.0 gives so much more torque and all as standard, you'd have to have work done on the 1.8

well iv just got back from picking up the car, its a 1.8 mondy si, nice engine, 130bhp. K&N, custom full exhaust, done up like its been coverd in glue and ram raided halfords!!

Gunna av the engine out and sell the mod bits off the car on ebay.

Heres a question, 1.6 gearbox or 1.8 gearbox, pros and conns of each???

I think the 1.6 gearbox would give better acceleration but top out around 125mph when you've got a 2.0 in a Fiesta Si. If you put an ERST box in then top speed is around 140mph I think but obviously slightly slower acceleration. I don't know about the 1.8 box on the Mondeo though.
2.0 Zetec Fiesta Si. Nice.
