Need help on mondeo car, for conversion!
Hi there,
A freind of mine is a mechanic and he is willign to fit a 2l engine in my car.
He said for him its prob easier to buy a mondeo from autotarder, ebay, or auction and simply use all the parts off there.
This is fine as they go for ssoooo cheap, btu can someone steer me in the right direction at what mondeo and engine im looking for. After a quick glance on ebay, there are loads of different types, and im not famialr with mondeos.
Any help is great guys.
Also which gearbox is best to use, a 1.3l one, or the mondeo one.
Scott.

2.0 L Silver top Zetec engine.
Gearbox is down to personal preference, 1.3 will blow in < 10 mins i'd guess. The 1.6 Si gearbox, RS1800, 2.0 Mondeo, S2 RST, 1.8 Diesel will all fit aswell as a few others. From what i've heard the Diesel gearbox is good as can handle the torque no problemo and also has very nice ratios

ok thats great. Got a few questions if that ok...
Can a 1.3 car handle all the power, drive shafts etc.
Does the 2l fit right in, or do i have to modify the current mounts , or can i simply use the mondeo mounts.
and finally, is that engine only in certain models of the mondeo?

Read the guide!
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Need a different wiring loom, 16V fiesta engine mounts and gearbag mounts also. Unless the car is amazingly mint i wouldn't bother with all the hassle as with the money spent on getting bits and converting it you could probably get a tidy enough Si for similar money and it'd be a lot more straightforward
