Needing help asap

Postby Choosey on Sun Dec 24, 2006 2:20 am

Hey guys,

Needing some help asap.

My mate hit a kerb, also due to the road being similar to an ice rink. Driving 20/30 mph. Wishbone is now a V-shape. Wishbone is replaceable, as he has one spare in the garage, but wondering if anyone else has any ideas on what else might be wrong with it?
Slight grinding noise when driving forward, due to the wishbone being f**cked probably. Any ideas what else may be wrong with it, i.e brakes? suspension?

Let me know asap.
Cheers.

prob focked the cv joint/s but get the new arm on and see what happens

apart from wheel prob being bent the steering rack could be damaged, at least the tracking will need checking/re doing

wheel bearing mine damaged but cant see it.

fingers crossed for ya mate he fits the new arm and finds it was just the cv making a noise due to deing further in than it should be.

shock wise, depending on the impact it might be ok, if its got a drop link for ARB then that will prob be bent.

brakes should be fine though.
just tell ya mate to have a bloody good look when he gets wheel off, and get him to check the bracket ther bottom arm fits into for damage.

check that the backing plate for the front discs isnt rubbing. It makes a nasty grinding, along with all the above options.

Hi Mate,

I hit a cerb after understeering on some diesel about 8 weeks ago,
and my wishbone also ended up a V shape. After replacing it I found
that there was a massive groove which had been ground into the brake
disc, by the ball joint on the impact.

This had bent the disc like fook, and was causing a grinding noise on
mine, the only other thing that was wrong with it was the tracking. So,
it might be worthwhile having a check on your brake disc as well as all
the other things mentioned by 'jayrs' above.

Hope you sort it out fella,
Dave :oooh:
