New Bigger Engine
After I have made my car look decent enough and it is time to renew the insurance. March 2004 I will be looking to put in a bigger engine. At the current moment I am insurance group 5 (parkers.com) for a 1.1 5 door. I would be looking to put in a 1.6 and I was wondering, where would I be better to doner the engine from. An XR2i or an Si or somewhere else ?
I was considering the XR2i cos I can pick an engine up for £50 just now, with the box and everything else as well.
But most Sis seem to have less milage and are cheaper on the old insurance front as well (I think I read on this site that it was IG8 for the Si's 1600 but IG13, 14 or 15 for the XR2s. However the buying of the engine would be more expensive.
And as I am only young with no years no claims yet, that 13, 14 or 15 would shaft me for the insurance.
So in your opinion where should I get an engine from ? Or can you think of any other ideas ?
