New Cams, 1.6Si? Help pls!!!
Performance cams(1.6Si), i'm considering it as I've heard that its pretty much the best way for power gains aside from a turbo.....I'm getting a wedge in Jan so im gonna do it, but a few things first please.....
Whos done it...is it worth it?
How much and what else is involved....ie. what else needs chanfing...

aint much point to be honest
you wont get harldy any gain like 5 bhp as the 1.6 si engine is so restrictive.
do a search this has been asked so many times about tuning the 1.6 si.
best off saving your money for a 2.0 conversion 130 bhp

Fez_Steve :is it a load of rubbish when they say like "12bhp in a rev band" etc...?
Well no, it depends on the engine. Unfortunately the 1.6 Zetec-E engine is very restictive in comparison to others. It was designed with economy in mind. So it wont gain as much with fast road cams as other engines might.

As above,
Cams about £700 to go from 90bhp to 95bhp
Or 2.0 conversion which cost the same to go from 90bhp to 130bhp
Or do what I did 2.0 conversion then cams
I do have some 130ps ford cams for sale if you want them but not sure if they will work in a 1.6 si as they are the RS1800 spec cams.
But they should give a improvement in power for not much money if they will work.
I am sure someone on here will know.

Oh sorry I meant keep your sh!t restrictive 1.6 engine, do as much work and end up with an extra 5bhp.
Makes me laugh so much on here when ppl ask for advise and then when they don't hear people agreeing with their sh!t idea they get upety LMFAO!!

And it makes ME laugh when someone asks advice on a 'specific' item....and then Ford GURU's starting suggesting engine swaps like its a 10 minute job!!!!! great help that, It really takes a genius to tell me that putting a 2.0 in place would make my car go faster!

Sorry I'll reply specifically:

No-one, no.

Nothing else, isn't £500 for a 5bhp increase enough?
where can anyone recomend?
No where [ERRR] no ones wasted their time doing it
Hope they are more helpful, specific answers

Ok children calm down.
I can see the points you are both making and there is no point getting upset.
I would agree its silly to spend any real money on the 1.6si when the 2.0 can be done so cheaply and within a week if well prepared.
But with that as I said cams from bigger models may do something and can be got for alot less and there is things like exhaust and air filter which again can make some difference and make it sound nicer. also these could be used if he does upgrade to a 2.0 in the future.

lol
I was just expressing a point of view as I have been down the 1.6 route and after spending £300 on an exhaust, £100 on a decat pipe, £80 on an induction kit, £50 on a throttle body wish I waould have spent the same money on an engine swap!
As has been posted on here many times none of the aforementioned items or cams are the bottle neck, its the valve sizes so there is not that much point in changing them until u clear the bottleneck which is the valves! (i.e. new engine or a lot of money spent on the head!)

Pretty sure it can't be done. I don't know about actually fitting one on, whether there is a problem there, i.e. bolting it to the block (I would have though that it would actually fit), but I'm sure the fact that the chamber being a larger diameter (2.0 obviously having a larger bore than a 1.6) can only be a bad thing over-lapping the 1.6 bore.
This is how I see it anyway, but I'd like to hear other peoples' opinions/experiences in response to that
