new car sierra

After getting back from a year of galavanting around the world and having no money left I bought this...

Image

Sierra 1.6 L for £150, went pretty much straight through the MOT. I've changed the brakes, top mount rubbers and put on two new tyres.

It's got a worn cam shaft so it's developing about 7bhp but I've got a replacement so once that's done all it will need is a service.

It's already been down to Weymouth with 4 people and a boot full of beer and apart from being deathly slow it performed fantastically.

It's super comfortable, super relaxing and a has massive road presence.

Possibly a future project? Some of you know that I was working in melbourne for 7 months or so and as a result have been exposed to the Aussie car culture, so a blown FPV v8 is deffo on the cards at some point.

The RS is still sorn'd in my mates garage feeling pretty sorry for itself. I'll hopefully have her out for the summer though.

For anyone that is interested, this was my daily ride in OZ:

I'll try and get some better pics up soon.

Nice motor Fil, always had a soft spot for an old Sierra, but to find an estate, roadworthy at that age, for £150... bargain!

What was the truck? Was tempted to say Toyota?

Holden Rodeo 3.5l v6 I think it was an LS range engine.

The sierra is far from perfect though, plenty of surface rust scabs, but it's been looked after and an ultimate battle wagon. £300 to insure as well lols.

I always liked these until I saw yours and for some reason your one has made me realise how much the back doors look like they should be fitted at either end of underground carriages :-?

Deserves a big V8, though :D

1.8 CVH isn't bad, it's pretty torquey. Zetec is deffo the way forward with an LPG tank, how do you join one to the gearbox, does retroford sell all the kit?
