New member sayin "Hello"

Postby stucos71 on Tue Dec 30, 2008 10:29 pm

Hi all,
Was highly recommended this site by some of my native "West Of Scotland RSOC" mates.
Thought i'd post up a quick "hello".

Currently use a BMW 5 series Sport as a daily driver and a Saph 4x4 Cosworth for summer fun.
Reason i joined here tho, i track a mk2 XR2 which is soon to run a 2ltr zetec, staged head, cams, 45's etc, and this site seems to be full of like minded Fiesta nuts 8)

Its not that it goes Random Jay, its just the fact that it goes way off topic therefore rendering the topic useless. If its in a random thread its fine :)

it used to be about everyone having a laugh and a good time on the forum mate and it used to be a great place, now, well im not so sure..
theres so much i could and want to say, but i wont, this thread isnt for that plus for voicing what i think i would get banned.

anyway im taking it off topic so will stop replying now.

welcome to the site again mate, it is a good place really, like anything it has its moments etc but you will enjoy it here

I can understand mate, it is about everyone having a laugh, but when you've got 3 people using a newbie's welcome thread for stuff that could really have been on MSN or private messaging it does get a little irritating if you know what I mean. If that happened on every thread it would be too hard for people to find information that they're looking for, and in the last thread it looked as though the OP was ignored so that the 3 way spam chat could continue.

I'm all for having a laugh and all that, but I really felt sorry for the guy who started the thread.

nick, i know what you mean and where your coming from, i really do, yeah the thread ran away, but, in all fairness if it showed one thing is that the forum has people that have a laugh not stuck up like other forums.
not that its any different to any other thread, but, it was only a "hi im new " thread in random, which we did all reply to, it wasnt a question or something and the guy that started it could of joined in the chat, and if he had would it still of been bad....? its no reason for why it went that why and it shouldnt of done, but you know..
as for being irritating, no one is forced to keep looking at the thread nor is anyone forced to get email notifications, so if it is indeed irritating, then the person thats getting irritated brings it on them self for keep on reading you know, bit like the mallets mallets thread, thats full of crap and no one moans about that, as is other threads.
mind you i have issues with a few things on the forum hence why im not my self at the mo, even you must see that from some of my replys, but its a new year tomorrow so i will bung my issues aside and get back to my old self.

anyway this thread is going off topic now and is likly to get locked or ill get moaned at again, so ill stop it there

again, welcome to the sirte, and happy new years everyone :)

Its not always me you know, i was just involved, there was 3 of us who are guilty of it, plus 2 other users in different threads, so why do i always get the blame? :-?

Like in this thread, all i said was "Hi ", a reply was made about what i said, so i responded back :P

Anyway, all this moaning/bitching doesn't look good for the site, so i am going to leave it at that as the thread is going off topic and i don't want to be accused of being the reason it did. :bonkers:

Jay, it's not about being stuck up it's about not being an ignorant pillock and hijacking other peoples threads. Alex has already locked another thread because of this and it's GROSSLY unfair to the thread starters. If it continues I'm going to start handing out warnings and temporary bans to the people concerned - I'm certain Alex will be happy to follow suit.

Do your thing guys,
RSOC main board is the same from time to time. Personally, i dont want to get involved. Its meant to be fun.....

I put up my "hello" thread because i get pissed off when people come on our site and dont introduce themselves, but dive straight on "Parts Wanted/For Sale" section.
I think its manners to introduce yourself first. APOLOGIES IF I'VE STARTED SOMETHING :o :o

stucos71, na you aint started nothing mate, its all sorted nows anyway.

i have to say, when people join up and jump right into tech, or wanted/for sale get what they want then bugger off never to be seen again with a dozon postes or something that does pi$$ me off, but if a new memeber like your self take the time to start a thread to say hi it shows that, in a lot of cases there more than likly here for the long haul. :D
everyone is welcomed here mate, and everyone in a lot of cases get one fine with each other and we all have a laugh, but many threads do tend to run away and go off topic, but the mods do a good job on the site and every now and then need to pipe up and remind people whats whats.

theres plenty people here that will help with any tech probs, i always check the room every day or more in the evenings, mainly due to wife watching soaps so i spend a lot of time on FT  , so again welcome to the site, make your self at home :)
