Nick's ST
I don't really care what remarks I get. I like the strap, and it's functional, it's not just for show

Burman loves a strap on!
I think it would have been better in blue/black.
Although it's functional, hopefully it won't be needed!

Re: Nick's ST
To be fair, I don't see a point in it.
BUT I do like it and I think the colour was a good shout too.
Well done on the parking award too, no where near beating me yet though haha

Re: Nick's ST
Had a trackday at Lydden Hill yesterday, had three sessions there. In conclusion, really happy with how the car handled, really happy with the pickup of speed, and really happy, surprisingly, with my driving!
Now need a new set of tyres and discs / pads all round (excessive scoring on the OSF, and some very strange uneven wear on the NSF!
Mark was there too, on it all day like an absolute maniac!
Even managed to pass some stuff this time!

Re: Nick's ST
Few little bits:
Swapping out my gearbox torque link on Saturday - standard is going in favour of a vibratechnics road mount.
I also acquired a new dent, after I reversed off the drive in the dark while trying to avoid cyclists, a bus, and various cars, and into the car parked on the other side of the road. Luckily no damage caused to his car, mine has a scuff on the rear bumper, and a dent on the corner, which I'll get sorted along with the rest of the bodywork in the new year.

Will do Tim, the standard ones seem to be a weak point, one of the guys on FFST found that his needed replacing at 30k!
If this one is fairly decent, (third hand!), I'll probably look into sorting out the other two engine mounts with Vibratechnics ones, and polybushing the lower arms and rear beam

That should come out with a bit of heat and caressing

Re: Nick's ST
Yeah, I know a PDR guy who will do jobs on the cheap for me Will get him to have a look in the new year, adding it to my list (dent in door, two dents on top of boot lid, another crease on rear bumper)
Vibratechnics gearbox mount installed. Christ on a bike it's stiff. Vibrates like a Bic™ in the cabin between 1100 and 1400 revs, after that though, the throttle response is loads better, drives fantastically. The vibration I'm told dampens down over time while the mount beds in.
The guy I got the mount from was returning his car to standard to trade in, so he offered me his splitter too - it's a Focus RS splitter I believe, probably aftermarket as it appears to be fibreglass.
It's currently Red, so am going to sand it back, and spray it black, probably with plasti-dip. I'll also do the grilles and plastics with plasti-dip too, and am thinking about doing the wheels at the same time.

Loves a bit of plasti-dip! I was going to do my wheels in it but wasn't sure what colour I wanted, so gave up on the idea lol

Replaced a couple of mine with polybushes (machined to suit) and it's similar, nvh drastically increased at low RPM but disappears at about 1500. Can REALLY feel it on idle though but clutch is MUCH better behaved and engine movement pretty much eliminated, even when spanked.
Nothing to see here...

Exactly what I've noticed. The car/throttle just feels more.... solid, for want of a better word.

Re: Nick's ST
Had vibratechnics mounts, or similar on quite a few cars now. As long as you can get over the vibration at low revs then the benefits are worth it, engine and gears are far more responsive.

Nick's ST
Passed the MOT today with advisories on the rear tyre tread depth (knew about anyway), so pleased with that. However while servicing it last week I saw my coolant had dropped significantly. Topped it up, and the level had been stable - until getting it over the pit at the MOT garage, where the car promptly wet itself over the tester.
Turns out that a coolant pipe connecting the water pump to the Duratec's oil cooler had snapped off its clips and rested against the fan, which rubbed and eventually sliced its way through.
Replaced that today and filled with water to flush out before antifreeze/coolant tomorrow.
