No more shows....
Sorry for the people who do appreciate what goes on, but as there's a few who think they can do better, they can do so and I'm off to do my own thing with my little 'clique'.
Thanks for all the memories of shows over the years, but I just can't be bothered with the hassle afterwards anymore and organising a smaller stand will be much easier. It's not just a decision from the FITP post, I've been thinking about it for the last year...
Massive thanks to the guys who have been loyal to FT, there's more of you than I've given credit to!
It's not that I'm not taking people's comments on board, but it's the same thing every year and it's like listening to a broken record tbh. People have ideas but never want to help put them in place. So someone can take over here and we'll be starting up something new, for those who don't disagree with every stand I organise.

Re: No more shows....
Basically its been brought on by the same old crap every year. Always have people slagging it off after the event and coming up with ways to make it better. But for some reason they seem to think its the job of ~Vix~ and her friends to sort it and never come forward to help. I can only imagine how disheartening it is for her to spend a massive amount of time sorting tickets etc for people only to get slated for not doing more. Even more insulting that this is happening after the event on a internet forum, these people don't even have the front to say something on the day.
I have to say ~Vix~ clearly has more patience than I would have, and has done a stirling job over the last few years.

Can't believe this has happened but im not surprised. People just are never satisfied and no matter what they never will be, even if everything mentioned now was done perfectly next yr there would just be new stuff said after the next one.
As already said Vix has worked her arse off and still got slated but thanks for everything you've done for the club hon. xx

.... Really sorry to hear about this but I don't blame you for giving it up especially the amount of your free time it takes up to make this all happen, then to be criticised afterwards must be really annoying.
Hope this can be sorted.

I thought the FITP stand was done really well - it's a shame that people felt the need to throw loads of criticism towards the people who get off their arse and actually do something to arrange it

Re: No more shows....
To re-iterate what I said this morning.
You've put a helluva lot of work into the shows and you should be damned proud of what you've achieved. I didn't go but I still appreciate all that you've done though I understand entirely why your heart isn't in it any more; being a moderator and long time member of the board I (and Alex) both understand how much effort you've put in and how disheartening it is to have the results of that effort belittled. At the end of the trip, so long as you've done the best you can, nothing anyone else says or does matters a jot. You've done your best, you (and I) know it and that's all that matters.

Re: No more shows....
Sorry to hear the decision you've come to Vix.
I personally feel you've always done a great job at the shows. I've been to the last 5/6 FITP's and This years stand especially was better than any other stand at the show and has been for a number of years.
To all people moaning about a focus and two capri's at the front of the FIESTATURBO.COM stand i'd just like to say, how many of the fiesta's on the stand were actually genuine FRST's????
Also moaning about being at the back or far left/right, people spend hours at the show looking at all the cars on all stands so your car will never be missed regardless of where it is.
Also, from experience if you sit in your car all day (as many people did) people are less likely to look closely at your car as it feels uncomfortable lookin at what someones done to their car when the owners are in it staring back at you.
I'd love to be able to do what vix acheives every year but simply don't have the spare time. I think too many people forget that Vix gives up her spare time in order to make the shows enjoyable for everyone unpaid and completely unpraised or rarely thanked.
Well i thank you Vix for a number of enjoyable years even if i haven't spoken to you much at them. I really hope you may re-consider but if not wish you luck with the new stand
thanks again

Re: No more shows....
It's a shame to see it come to this after all the effort you've put in over the years, but it's easy to understand why after reading some of the comments people made. Some of the comments were genuinely constructive, but a lot of the complaints were about things beyond the control of clubs or just totally unfounded.

so would I mate! Sadly it seems they are all mouth and no trousers and although they have a million critisims of someone elses hard work, they don't actually have the balls to give organising it a chance. I hope someone comes forward to organise stands before Ford Fair, or I fear FT as a club that shows will be a thing of the past...

I wouldn't say me mainly, I simply stressed the points others were making because nobody seemed to listen. I have already taken time out to explain to people my reasons behind my voice, it's then up to them what to do with it.

and you are still missing the point that any stand organising is done out of the goodness of our hearts, not because we are some elected commitee of stand officials. So are you going to put your money where your mouth is and organise, or help organise future stands?

Re: No more shows....
I am organising a stand for Ford Fair yes, but I'm covering for AW3K on Fiesta Guides who's baby is due around that time.
Nobody is saying that you're elected, but being senior longer-term members, people do look up to you guys a lot more than they do some average member or newbie. I know it's not right but that's just the way things go. As I already mentioned in a previous post, I'm more than happy to add my share in organising stands so long as people know what's going on rather than looking to each other to see what they do, is that fair to say?

Re: No more shows....
Right i can see both sides of this debate.....
IMO i cant think of another person that could organise the tickets and kick everybody up the arse..... (or even shout as loud) as Vix.... She has done a TOP JOB been events person... and i hope and im sure many others do that she reconsiders her job for doing that...
With the stand at FITP been where it was we could't do much with regarding the DUST....... My car im sure was one of the worst affected by this..... Bloddy black cars....!!!! This wasnt down to Vix at all.... But i didnt think the space we had and time everybody turnt up we had a good display... but..... if we would of disscussed times and maybe all arrived about the same time ish..... i know that is hard we could of disscsed with a bit of organisation it could of looked better but with everybody going off it is very hard to do that. IMO i was Proud to be an FT.com member @ FITP on sunday.
Thats just my 2p's and i hope i still am going to be aloud to post...
Cheers

Re: No more shows....
I look back to FITP 2004, my first car show, and my first FITP. I drove in, knowing three members from the site: Rawli, FRS_Steve and Liebo, all of whom I'd met just two months before. Driving round and round Wicksteed Park I finally came across a taped-off area with a tiny "fiestaturbo.com" board within its midst. I parked up, did a bit of cleaning, and then proceeded to walk around with Liebo, who I just happened to see on the way in. I knew no-one but him, and later saw Rawli briefly.
No gazebo, no banners, no named T-shirts (bar Vix's vest top). It wasn't till the year after that I met more people, by attending more shows and chatting to people more on the site and via MSN or whatever. These things take time, and it's up to the individual. If you want to go along to a show and meet people, get yourself to the show, then speak to people. No-one else can do that for you.
Here we are, four years on, with a massive gazebo, banners to identify the stand, quite a lot of named T-shirts, and huge stands at every show we attend, plus a fairly strong core who have been organising things. This was our aim a year or two ago, to really make a go of the shows, and in my opinion, it's made a huge impact. Just look at the size of our stands these days, and how many people actually recognise and talk to each other!
Although I can't say I'm hugely offended or angered by all these strange comments of late, there does seem to be a lot of arguing about very little. And I still find it odd seeing so many people turning up to shows like FITP, after much driving and cleaning, only to sit in their car all day long..but that's not a problem as long as they enjoy it I suppose!
We'll see what happens I suppose, I'll still be going to shows if I feel like it

Unfortunately my problem is I care far too much about this site. And when people slate everything it does hurt, I can't help it, I'm female
As for being a long standing member, Tweek - you're one too, and you said you were gonna take over. All talk and no action eh
Anyway enough of that, I'm sure something will get sorted!

well you will need to find someone to sort the tickets too then, and work with them. The 2 things kinda go hand in hand.

Re: No more shows....
I'm really sorry to hear this and the fact I feel so guilty as the discussion started in my thread I feel like I'm the cause
Vix, as I said in my PM to you I really feel you do a fantastic job organising the stands and always have done, I really didn't have any criticisms about the stand, but then I wouldn't feel I'm in a position to. To re-iterate to everyone here I don't think there was any grouping going on at all, people came and went from the gazebo, and the only, sole reason I didn't really venture in there is my public nervousness which I'm hoping to combat soon. I think its a similar situation all round really, as we've had, as a club, so many new members joining up and no-one knows who they are. Personally I'm going to make more of an effort at shows to help out and get involved and I never have a bad word to say about anyone who puts so much effort, time and money into the club. The whole stand was fantastic and this is a huge community where people chat so much online, but I think for some of the part (me) its the nervousness thing.
I'm really sorry to those who were involved in the discussion in my thread, hence why I asked Alex to remove it as it was going to upset someone somewhere along the line and seeing this thread kind of makes me feel I'm partly responsible (I know I'm not, but thats the kind of guy I am).
I think there may be a solution in the fact of doing what the ZSOC do and the UKFN, which is only to open up the club stands to club.ft members, that cuts out on people who only turn up to one show, don't like it, then never turn up again. I really am sorry to see this thread and if I wasn't in so much training and work I'd be offering to help out a lot more.
Once again Vix/nomad/S1/Capri/MotorcyclesFish and others, thankyou for all the hard work you put in making the club what it is today, and I'm really sorry to see this thread come about.
