Noisy alternator????
Just went out in the fiesta and a noise started that sounded like something dragging, had a look but nothing, noise seems to be worse when accelerating and turning left, put right hand lock on and go in circles managed to keep the noise and lift bonnet and it seems like coming from alternator. Any ideas??? Cheers

Re: Noisy alternator????
As above lol
If the alternator is noises the bearing will be on its way out and a long rid of metal push against it and your ear on the other end will amplify any sound from it.
Any signs the fan blade of the alternator have been touching or rubbing anything inc the plastic shield?
Also another thing seeing as you said its noise when turning one way, are you sure it's not a inner cv joint clicking away?

Re: Noisy alternator????
Only just got round to looking at the car, and the alternator fan/blades are wobbling in and out causeing the noise, will it be a case of just tightening it up or just get a new alternator? As you may have guessed already i dont know much about cars so all help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Noisy alternator????
CVH, its not leaking from oil filter or sump plug, and doesnt seem to be leaking sump gasket, back of the engine somewhere.
