I currently have an HTC HD7 (one of the first Windows Phone 7 phones). I get about a day out of my battery with regular usage.

I'm due an upgrade, and was looking at the Nokia. What problem are you having?

just the battery mate, its not lasting as long as it should.

although, after a couple days of use and recharging it has got better, but its still not giving me 48 hours standby where as the specs from orange state 390 hours stand by.

got my replacment 5 mins ago as it was delayed, so will see how it goes

just to update this incase anyone is interested, the batteyr life on the replacment was better right from the start, although it doesnt give the full amount of power the specs state, it is improving with every charge, and since getting it, its on its second full charge.
after first charge it said about 2 days, were up to near as damn it 5 days now

i havent fully started using the phone as yet as i decided to request a micro sim from orange rather than cut my old one down as i have the larger contacts on my std size sim, this should be delivered anytime now, and once it has been, i will be using the phone full time, and i expect the battery life to improve a far bit with it bing drained and charged more

so far so good mate, cant fault it, its not as good as the N8 in some ways, like the camera isnt as good, doesnt have the FM transmitter, and i dont think its got the HD voice on it, but as far as operation goes and using it for internet, i think its far better than the N8.

if you dont fancy a windows phone, try the N9, i dont think its for sale anywhere at the mo, but its a nice bit of kit i must say, if the N9 was out now on orange, i think i would prob have that over the lumia 800, but it would come down to a side by side test.

the one thing about the N9 that is a little off putting is the OS, its meego, and from what i read on the net, its the first phone kia have with this OS on it, and seems it will be the last too, so i see potental for bugs and problems, but as i said i would have of looked into it.

Aslo, the N9 has a foward facing camera and some other hardware differences over the lumia 800, i never video call, so the loss of the froward camera is no loss to me

i am happy with it yes.
the battery life varies tbh, i have noticed some free games which have adverts, when played drained the battery fairly quick, or so it seems, and the other night after downloading one and playing it, i charged the phone, done a few bits on it and by morning was half dead, unistalled it, along with a few other free games, i rebooted the phone and recharged, and its been 3 and a half days since the charge and i still had 40% battery this morning with a predicted 1 day 3 hours or something, but i put it on charge this afternoon anyway.

but over all, yeah battery update did do something, i downloaded it about a month ago, i noticed the britness was low and a fe other things not right, but a couple of weeks later nokia sent out another update to sort that as it was part of the first update it seems...

still not as good as what nokia boast, i dont see 390 hours standby  but as the phone goes, i really do love it i gotta say, just needs a better camera imo, if nokia put the camera from the N8 into the lumia 800, and fixed the battery problem, it would be spot on! but compaired to the wifes iphone 4, i caqnt grumble, shes gotta charge that every day, but she does leave wifi on all the time, where as i have it off, as well as data off untill i need it

the lumia 900 looks nice, but then again it looks like the 800 so im gunna say that :bonkers:  its bigger though, im not sure if i would like the size of it from what ive seen on the net, but i guess untill i hold it in my hand, and test it, im not going to pass judgement on the 900 just yet.
i just hope it doesnt suffer battery problems

I've currently got an HD7, so I'm used to bigger devices! (as well as generally :bonkers:  )

Yeah, I hope the battery on them is fine too!

your be ok then mate :)

i am thinking i might speak to orange about this issue again though, as the phone is a contact phone, and orange only warrant it for 6 months, after that i will have to claim from my insurance, or send it back to nokia for repair, and with orange (prob all the networks tbh) if the phone has a known software fault (which nokia say it is) then they might not replace it under the insurance, this is the only thing im a little consirened about, seeing as the phone is on a 2 year contact.

however i will give orange there due, if a phone has the same problem 3 times or more, im entitled to change it for a different model, but, orange decide what models they will offer you  still, i have 5 contact phones with them so i can try and use that against them should i ever need to

5 ? Jesus Jay, you local dealer or something ?

Joking aside, I'm looking at taking a new contract in next few days for work and cutting down the use on my personal number - also on a different network to O2 to maximise coverage in rural areas.

Top of the "want" list is either an HTC One X or a Galaxy S 3. Whichever it is it's going to have to last the next two years - my SGS2 is still going strong at 13 months old and not put a foot wrong. Been considering a Nokia, they've always made solid phones but the tech in the 900 and 800 is 12 months old as it stands, I quite like the os but prefer the extensibility of android. N9 would have been on the list, but since they killed off meego/maemo It's off the list - have an N900 at one point and loved it tbh, much less a phone than a pocket computer though.

One X is out next week (allegedly) so probably going to go that way tbh.

 , na not a dealer :bonkers: one for each ho  , just kidding, its me, the wife, 2 of my kids, mother inlaw and sister inlaw

i do like nokia's, alot, but strayed away in the past due to problems, but my old N8 was spot on tbh.

im not a lover of samsung, had a few in the past, my daughter has the galaxy s (first generation) and thats been fine so cant fault, as for HTC, ive never had one, so cant comment on them, but i dont recal hearing much bad about them
