Haha, like it.
Don't do what someone I know did and MOT the vehicle with the wrong plate on, causing no end of hassle once DVLA and plod computers realised.

H702 DEG is the right plate mate, it'll pass its next mot with it on, same as greeny will pass as C8 RST now. I doubt either will ever be moted again thou

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 29/06/09.
update time!
Went to Paul S1s manor the other day to further ruin this once quite pleasant xr2i.
I discovered that Paul had left it in a nearby forest, thus ruining it without even touching it!
greenage!
So we pulled it into the garage, and proceeded to instead of clean it at all, make some improvents/unreversable devauleing modifications. First we fitted the brand new frst arms (cheers Clark), these were much needed as the old ones were shot to s**t. They have obviously put the tracking out massively compared to the xr2i items on it before. So that needs sorting.
Happy with that half done job we moved on to drinking tea (Paul) and coke (me), and I ripped the front arches off, mainly cos Paul didn't want me too, but I wanted to see how rotten the arches were, also half of Bruntingthorpe was in there, so thought I would clear that out. Was happy to find little rot, I wanna get the rest of the kit off now, cut the arches out and rivit arches back on.
Happy to leave the arches off and the car in a state I wondered how I could further destroy its once good looks. I decided on digging the rot out of the sunroof area and treating it, followed by primer and some random matt black I found to stop moisture getting in until it warms up and I can paint it properly (by properly I mean matt black the roof, if Paul lets me, he seemed a little horrified by my work) . Paul tackled the mk5 escort master cylinder while I did this, its modded, fitted and just needs a couple lines making up to finish. Good job Pool!
Thats all for now, I reckon the roof will look grand with a sandback, primer and satin black session, needs to warm up, Paul is not sure, but its that or vinyl which will cost more, and perish like buggery with the car living outside. Plus I am not sure we are up to a roof wrap . Car is bound to end up in a tyre wall anyway, and then it'll be black all over
Heres some random pictures, from the day.
oh yeah, Brian was there, forgot that. He got the chips in, good lad. Bit simple, but a good heart.

he is lucky it was the coilpack and not his inner wing, and a rubber mallet, rather than a machine gun.

It's made a difference to me having to push it around my drive, now the tracking's out I have to nudge it wi' me Vulva. And the sunroof now leaks. And the arch that had been "placed" on it fell off when being nidged by said Vulva and now resembles a shrinky-dink (Google it youngsters!)

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 8/2/10 pics, drama, sex!
Its been like 8months, so another update why not?
The FRST lower arms seem to have given the car mad camber, so we are back to xr2i ones. No pics of this sadly, but basically we got the bushes out as Paul has a set of Poly ones to fit, and bought some balljoints to replace worn ones. Hopefully this will sort the camber back to where it should be, and also sharpen things up in general. He also found some arb and rear beam bushes! Yay!
Paul has been a busy boy in general the last week, he cut and rolled the front arches, both the plastic and the metal, to get rid of rot and create oodles of clearance, and we rivited them on yesterday using some black rivets I had.
He has also sorted the brake lines out for our mk5 escort setup. All new lines, and the braided ones are on the rear now too.
The other thing Paul has done (I love sharing a car with him) is to start sorting the seating, we both found the drivers seat a bit too high, so Paul has cut the bars off the cage out and also removed the crossmember, and started replacing it with box section to mount the seats much lower.
There are a few more things to do, roof is getting vinyled, the inside is prob going satin black, and few other little bits and bobs. Keen to use it again!

Very mean.
Black roof will look mint imho. Nearly went for that look on the rover as I was having the leading panel on the roof painted black but stayed factory. May change it later. You could always put some signage on the roof if you painted it- "This way up" seems appropriate.
Also, madly, the black rivets give it a hard, industrial look that I quite like.

He has finished polybushing and reballjointing the lower arms and fitted them, polybushed the rear beam and also polybushed the arb.
I am told the seats are all mounted now as well, but no pics yet.
Heres a couple pics of the car after it sat for a year

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 30/05/2011
We decided to sort the roof on the car last couple days, basically the plan was to remove the sunroof and make a panel up to replace it, saving a bit of weight and tidying things up a bit.
So the first thing to do was blast all the crap and debris off the car and get to prepping the roof. I had ground out a few bits of rust and treated them last year, and blasted it over with primer and matt black paint to protect it, so we had to key the roof up and also fill the lower bits where the rust was removed, and a couple of over faults in the roof.
While the filler went off we went to the scrappy and removed a section of roof from a nonsunroof mk3.5, this meant the panel could be made up with the correct profile to match the roof.
Once back, i set to sanding back the filler and finishing the roof prep while Paul began to make up the panel.
After the roof was prepped we panel wiped it and wrapped it in matt black vinyl.
Then we went for a curry.
So today we made up the panel, wrapped it and rivited it to the roof.
Thats about it really. Wrapping the roof was a new experiance, the wrap is far from perfect but fine for a trackcar, if we did it a second time I reckon we would have it spot on, but certainly is not a easy job!
Heres some random piccys.

The black roof definately is a win. Ive got a similar panel on my mk1 track car,and its going black too
But the Green FRST in the background looks proper like a blue Volvo. must be camera trickery

Would it be gay of me to suggest that wrapping the roof (after using countersunk rivets to secure the roof panel) would've waterproofed it, as well as giving it its new look? Nice bit of handywork again though chaps, I do miss Mk3 Fiestas each time I drop in one here. So simple to work on!

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 07/06/2011 Roofie.
We sealed the panel with mastic as well as the rivits, so should be pretty waterproof (we hope!)
It would have been quite awkward to wrap with the panel in place I think, wrapping vinyl is very very thin and shows everything
