Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 04/01/09.
Got some more jobs done today, first off was to replace the std rear studs with some decent length ones, the nuts now do up more than a handful of turns so we shouldnt have any repeat of its last outing when a wheel fell off
I picked up the other pair of wheels that have had the Falkens fitted and stuck them on the back. They have some life left in them but once they are dead we will stick another pair of Toyo's on the back. I gave all four wheels a clean and then fitted them. They really suit the car imho.
I also stripped out the window winder mechanism and bonded the rubbers in, then bonded the polycarb windows in so they wont blow out like they used to do.

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 04/01/09.
More progress today! I had a Sparco seat leftover from H702 DEG so decided that was a better option than a f**cked Recaro. I already had the rear mounts made up so just needed to weld in some captives into the seat crossmember. So they dont look too odd I swapped the seat cushions around as the drivers seat is black and passenger is red!
As some tracks dont allow you to run with bare doors in case of accidents I made up some door trims from some plastic sheet Dave had. Not brilliant but look ok'ish. I also got rid of the rattle can colour-coded mirrors as they looked gash. Inside was given a hoover out and a wipe over with thinners to remove a layer of grime. All in all a good days work and another step closer to being show, I mean track ready

think Paul thought it heard it off me, but he didn't so dont think any do, I was a bit unsure about having bare doors in a accident thou! Even in general I would rather they were covered, plenty of edges there. Thought about cutting weight out of them but thought that might be a bad idea, again in a crash?
Combe could be a idea, but its a epic epic trek!
Anyway, harnesses are in, Momo (insert ghey rap term) wheel swapped for Momo not (insert ghey rap term) wheel, much more fitting!

Suprising what they let you out on a track with! I heard they even let people out on the track with plastic roofs!
It would be nice if there were a track day at combe sometime around August!

Oi !!
Theres overnight camping at Combe, so you could come along on the Friday afternoon,
have a few sherberts, then be on site for the following day, go on, you know you want to
I reckon it will take you a couple of hours from your place Dave.
Love the red/black theme btw

Actually, I think I've got a half-leather driving glove somewhere you can borrow if you need it.

Our most recent testing session has shown it's cornering ability to be somewhat lacking

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 04/01/09.
yes after some testing near Pauls house we have discoved that we hate Avo coilovers. Basically the rear of the car is far far too loose. We intend to replace the rear coilovers with top adjustables and get another pair of tyres on. Also discovered the brakes are losing feeling somehow, after bleeding the system the pedal felt solid and lovely, however after a week of the car sitting it feels spongy and crap. Thinking this is down to the master cylinder / servo, so those are also on the replace list. Onwards and upwards.

yeah true. Brkae thing is weird, they were awesome after bleeding and crap a day later. I think sitting about year on year has killed the master cylinder, brakes were great last year at Bedford. Sure we will get to the bottom of it.

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 04/01/09.
What rear beam are you using?
Do the kosher coilovers have proper spring top control? I found the car always felt uncontrolled at the rear when it was unloading running on AVO coilovers.

Re: Nomad and S1s trackcar. Update 04/01/09.
Right update time, obviously the test session mentioned above was the Performance Ford feature at Brunters .
Went over Pauls sunday and we stripped the suspension off, and replaced the coilovers with Koni adjustables all round, found a good used set for the front, and a brand new set for the rear. We stripped the fronts down and cleaned the bearings and cups up, and fitted them.
We also investigated the knocking noise from the front, pretty sure its the pass side lower arm, would make sense as its not had a set in my ownership . So will be fitting a new pair of those!
Another little but important job was to lower the drivers seat, as it was a little too high, we managed to do this simply but changing the bolts between the subfrane and sidemounts for some low profile ones.
couple random pics, we found some of brunters under the car
