Damn, that's a bit sucky :( I hope everything else is okay...not cool finding all those problems on arrival at the venue, really not what you need to kick off the day!

i think the spacer was at fault, the wheel nuts were checked constantly throughout the day and never came loose. I do blame myself for using the spacers, I wasn't 100% but it was a choice of that or packup and go home before even going on track! The truth is wheel spacers are simply not made for the kind of forces generated on track.

The only damage (I think) is the brake disc, the studs / hub and maybe the wheel. Luckily it was due a set of discs and pads, the tyres were f**cked anyway and I was planning on building up and fitting a pair of new hubs / lower arms. Maybe there are some other bits bend, will see when the wheel is off and I can inspect it.

I need to look into what I can do now to move the wheels away from the struts, if anyone can suggest anything? Will using frst lower arms make any diff? Failing that its different offset wheels!

other than that it performed pretty well mate, the rear end was a bit happy to shake, due to the tyres and coilover settings I think. It ran incredibly well, given its had 2 years off!

Hmm. If the bodywork's ok the rest can be bolted up. A good trackday is one you walk away from mate, so well done. :)

If you need any bits (back) or help to get her roadworthy again gimme a shout.

You've gone and made me jumpy about my spacer'ed rear wheels now, you've seen what I drive like.

also what wheels where they? size, width, name, profile of tyres etc

Finally started stripping the front end down to replace bits after our mishap at Bedford.

Image
here it is, in the sun for the first time in months.

Image
stuff, noticed someflaking paint so scrapped it off.

Image
not too bad, just surface. Will be krusted and hammerited asap.

Image
we did both sides, this is the drivers.

Image

Image

I have already sorted so low milage lower arms and hubs, need to get a driveshaft and gaiters and can then pop it all back together.

Also picked a cleaner tailgate up, that isn't totally rotten and dented

Back of the car now
Image

new tailgate
Image

just need to fit the perspex and fit the tailgate up.

yeah i have been rather lazy to be honest. So so easy to leave it sat there. Thats why it sat in the corner of the barn for 2 years doing nothing! Least I notice its there now I have less room. Keep tripping over it so it reminds me to work on it

Picked up some bits tonight. Mate was stripping a fiesta trackcar, he had the running gear and most of the car was stripped, was rolling with kit on, had so good lower arms and hubs so dropped the front end suspension out, and stripped some other bits. It was whatever I wanted that was still on the car for £20, so I went to town.

Here it is:

Image

and here is what I got:

Image

off the top of my head, front and rear standard shocks with Apex lowering springs, front lower arms with polybushes, good cond hubs with good bearings, a passenger alloy footrest, bodykit and front bumper, leather gear gaiter, ignition barrel with key, brand new sill, strut tops.

I will sell on a few bits and keep some bits as spares. Happy days.

Won't be updating till next week probs, as no chance to work on it till after FITP. Hopefully get some bits there thou. :)

decided to tackle the little bit of rot on the inner arches, its just a tiny bit around the edge, was basially a bit of flaking paint, we took it back to bare metal and gave it a coat of hammerite to protect it. I also took the front bum,per off to see what was going on behind there. I wasn't surprised to find it had a small dent repaired, as the car had a crack to the front bumper when we got it. What was odd was how it was done. As it was pushed in on the area where the bumper mounts it has been pulled out as much as poss and then filled to bring it out to the right level. What surprised me was how well it had been done, given that it would never be seen! If it wasn't for the crack in the filler I never would have known. I pulled it all out and took that back to bare metal, then hammerited it too. I did a few other little areas too. Happy to report there was no serious rot thou. Its not pretty, but it does the trick.

Anyway I will let the pics do the talking.

Also swapped the tailgate for a non dented, not rotten one with no tailgate. Still need to swap the lock, remove the wiper and fit the perspex screen.

a long overdue undate here, the car has been sat on my drive since about march, up on axlestands after the off at Bedford. All its had are the above bits, tailgate, some blanking plugs for the ariel and boot holes. Then it kinda stopped, I was losing interest and the coowner Alex was too, I had to make the decision to either sell up or get on with it. After chatting with Alex and a couple of mates the problem was sorted, Paul (S1) expressed a interest in the car and Alex was happy to sell him his half, so a deal was done and now Paul coowns the car with me.

So yesterday he came to mine and we got it back on its wheels and onto his trailer to transport it to his, where its living for now. Then did some more to it today. Removed the stickers, started out tcutting it, and then decided it was beyond that so will be using a electric mop on it instead. Also fitted some braided front brake lines.

Anyways, pics.
