Not a fiesta - Mk2 orion running probs 70MPH+
Hi all, having problems with the running of the car pass 70MPH at around 5000K+
The engine will seem to bog down and not run to good at all, almost slowing the engine down
any ideas be great help
thanks
it will pick speed up fine, once it starts to bog down at wide open throttle around 5K i have to ease off the throttle
its mechanical fuel pump, carburetor

Timing maybe slightly out or incorrectly set up carb mate. Or possibly the dustrubutor

Id say dizzy or possibly a slight bend in a valve ,,had the same problem years ago with a nova £100 quid for a dizzy but it worked

ll sorted, was the float level as suspected
just took carb apart again and reset the float level to the TLDM settings and now goes up to speed how it should , before was bogging down at 70- not enough fuel in bowl.
Is DMTL CARB same as TLDM? got the settings for the carb out of haynes but the carb letters are mixed up in haynes! these are the specs i used this time.
2V DFTM 1.4 ***
7.5 - 8.5 mm
2V TLD 1,6
28.5- 29.5 mm
2V DFT XR3
34.5-35.5 mm
TLDM
28.0 - 30.0 mm
