yea its pin 2 mate...so im told it picks up signal for the rev counter?

Nope... Basically pin 2 is called IDS, it is a diagnostic signal to ECU's, it is not used on EEC-IV. Rev counter uses one of the 2 coilpack triggers, it is pin 10 or pin 12, it doesn't matter what of the 2. If your rev counter doesn't read correctly, I have read that you can use pin 11, it is a clean tachometer signal, but I can't say that for sure since I never tried it by myself...
