OFAB/OFAC ECU Question!

Postby AceFrst on Sun Aug 17, 2008 5:09 pm

Hello i own a 1991 H reg Fiesta rs turbo fitted with the OFAB ECU. I am fully rebuilding the engine with Lo-comp forged pistons, Arp rod bolts, T3, beige injectors, front mount ect. Obviously i need a chip to adjust the fueling and ignition to cope with the boost i am looking to run. I have a friend that also had a fiesta rst running similar spec but with a OFAC ECU with a stage 2 195 chip fitted. He had an unfortunate drifting accident resulting in the car being written off. My question is that would my car run if i change my OFAB ECU for his OFAC chipped one?

yes, but you need to change a few pins on the ecu, aswell as adding the OFAB MAP sensor, but yes it can be done and its not too difficult :)

Ive read that the OFAB ecu is better than the OFAC so would it make more sense just to buy a 195 chip for my ecu?

its diff' strokes for diff' folks mate, the ofac is newer and more sophistaicated, but your limited with the map sensor, to circa 1.2 bar IIRC, whereas the ofab you can mount a cossie map sensor, so alot more boost is possible.

Although im sure there is now a 2.5 bar upgrade for ofac :)
