Ok i have my good car which has an ofac loom. But there is no running gear, sensors, ecu etc etc

My car im breaking is ofab. So i will need to change the loom in my good ofac car to ofab, so i can get the running gear with the ofab ecu sensors and loom etc, to be running right!!!

Not sure, but I think you will need the IAT sensor too...If I am not mistaken...although I could be confusing that you need the IAT if you convert from atmospheric, and OFAB-OFAC is the same IAT.Perhaps a mate from in here could second that and correct me if I am wrong.I don't remember from back then when I was looking for my conversion. All the others,EDIS,coilpack,CPS,are the same.If you convert to OFAB,you will also need a special capacitor in line of the map sensor. It can run without it,but Marelli sensor is a bit sensitive on electric noise, and electric noise can create problems in the signal of the map sometimes...some say that if you run without it,it can destroy the map,but tbh,I know 3 friends of mine that run without it and are ok for years now...

So the actual engine sensors are all the same?? If thats the case, i will probably be best just buying an ofac ecu and a chip!! Or adapting my omex 600 to run in the car!!

Map sensor is paired with the ecu.OFAB has the square Marelli one,OFAC has the rectangular classic Ford map sensor.Depending on the ecu,you must use the appropriate map sensor. Also, perhaps you must use the appropriate IAT sensor.Although not sure on that.Something last...you will need some wiring changes, the two ecus are not interchangable. They have differences in loom.Injectors, coils,EDIS,CPS are the same.

Whats an IAT??

And i know stuff isnt interchangeable!! Thats why im asking about doing the conversion at ease!!

Dont wanna be ripping dashboards out and converting everything over, if its a case of changing a few wires and plugs and putting in the engine and getting it all up and running!!

IAT is the intake air temperature sensor,it is located on the inlet manifold, just right the throttle plate. There are a few threads regarding wiring,it is not so difficult to do it if you have basic electronic skills....

as i first said john.. ecu, engine loom and map sensor.. take the ofac engine loom out of the car(it goes from the end of the ecu round to all the engine sensors and joins the car loom behind where the map sensor lives)..fit the ofab ecu, then the ofab engine loom and the map sensor...happy days :)

when I disconnected all the senor plugs and the ecu plug...the whole lot came inside the car with the car loom. didn't seem to split anywhere. ]

This is why I like a saxo vts/106 gti...you untwist a multiplug on the passenger front chassis leg, don't disconnect any sensors..just fuel lines, throttle cable, clutch cable and engine mounts etc, and it all drops out - piss easy. The mk3 fiesta is doing me head in lol
