OK as you all know i've got a 1.6s,it's an 89' late F reg. now done 120k
What is the best oil to go for, a fully synthetic? What are the advantages? I work for Mobil so that will be my preferred brand!! and when i put it in, i take it i'll have to do an 'oil change' rather than just a 'top up' or is it ok to mix it with my current oil?? :???: how often should i top-up the oil and how often for a change??
:???:

Cheerz In advance, Rob

Dont mix your oils, do a full oil and filter change
Check your oil every week and top up with the same oil that is in the engine.

cheers

Funnily enough, i was just gonna ask the exact same question. Got some cheap $hitty oil in mine at the moment and i was gonna change it tomorrow, seeing as in the other thread it mentions the best oils to use. Anyway, nice 1!

1.6S engines - I would go looking for some 10w50 or 10w40 - nice and thick, 'cos it's gonna be getting old now. If it's quite a noisy engine, go for higher numbers (thicker), if it's really quiet, go for 10w40. Always use fully synthetic. Run it up to quite a high temperature and drain the oil.
Keep a washing up bowl full of cold water and a large damp towel nearby in case you end up with a face load of 150C oil...
