oil cooler's?

Postby PMK3 on Tue Jan 09, 2007 8:17 pm

hello,I was just wondering who's using aftermarket oil coolers (any pics?) and if you think there worth installing?,was there a noticeable drop in temps?.Was just thinking of getting one for my car, probably just a 10 row or maybe 13 row and would like to hear opinions on whats best/better to fit.cheers steve

cheers for the speedy reply!,yeah that is what i have heard TBH,about being OTT for a road car although the fiesta will be a roadcar,I intend to track it as much as possible next year, and just thinking of putting one in as opposed to having to add one later on.cheers steve

It's quite simple:

If your oil gets too hot, install a suitably-sized oil cooler :)

My oil was getting too hot, so I installed a cooler, now it doesn't.

For my particular oil, 120 Celsius is about the maximum it should reach as measured in the sump, which is 248 degrees Farenheit. On occasions (i.e. very fast motorway cruising on hot days, and fast road driving using prolonged high revs) my oil was climbing close to 270 Farenheit, so I fitted the cooler and it never passes 240 now.
