oil cooling
i have almost finished my full engine rebuild but have one last problem!! does anyone have any advice on the oil cooler please, do i use the original cooler or do i go with a mocal front mount oil cooler? my fiesta will be running 200bhp, inluding beige injectors, 195 chip, oversized mahle pistons with the blocked matched, new rods, ARP bolts, gas flowed, ported, both the head and block have been skimmed everthing on this car is a professional job with the work being carried out by advanced engine research. any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanx

At that sort of level you really don't need one. If you really feel you want the additional protection ensure you use a thermostatic version so the oilcooler will only cool the oil once it reaches a certain temperature. Not getting the oil up to temperature is potentially as damaging as getting it too hot.
I don't run an oil cooler on my 260bhp Escort RS Turbo although I do have to admit that it is on the jobs to do list now it's off the road pending further work.

Re: oil cooling
will get some pics up asap as the car is at my dads garage waiting 4 the return of the engine next week!! the full spec is as follows;
full bare shell resoration
house of kolor blue marblizer paint (looks stunning)
escort cossie rims
wilwood 4pot front brakes
scorpian exhaust system with 4inch rolled out tailpipe
upgraged fuel pump
koni adjustable suspention
escort turbo lsd gearbox
for the engine;
beige 701 injectors, superchips 195 chip, pro alloy intercooler, group a dump valve, mahle pistons, ARP head bolts and rod bolts, knN induction kit, skimmed head and block, rebored cylinders matched to pistons, gas flowed, ported, 15psi boost, cometic head gasket, prob more but can't think!! will all be mapped by paul hills at engine advantages once finished
so far about 45 hours of work has gone into the engine, from stripping it down to cleaning every part and then rebuilding her, i'm also using AER racing bolts and nuts everywhere instead of the ford ones.

Re: oil cooling
Sounds nicely specc'd but I would leave the dump valve off your list though.

Because despite all the marketting hype they actually do bugger all other than make you sound like a bus. Unless you're running the car with a T4 (or roller bearing turbo) or in excess of 30psi it's widely accepted they just aren't required on RST's. Different cars have different problems so sweeping statements about them can't be made. For example you can't run without a DV on a small turbo Escort Cossie as it screws the fueling. And you shouldn't run an atmospheric DV on the VAG 1.8T engine for the same reason.

Looks like you've got things pretty covered in all honesty, you haven't mentiond what camshaft you are running though.

Re: oil cooling
It's a bit of a standing joke as so many cars that have had Cossie wheels fitted are no longer about for one reason or another.
To be honest I always advise against their fitment as they just aren't suited to the Mk3 Fiesta due to the excessive ET25 offset and *J rim width. They're just too much, which is a shame as they always look amasing
