One for the mods/staff of FT
Having been on here for a few years now, ive mostly enjoyed myself, there has been bumps, but they have been sorted out.
The only thing that kinda irritates me is the scammers, trolls and poeple registering simply to sell stuff.
Would it be possible to change the rules over selling ? how about you cant sell unless you have so many posts, or become a paid up member ? simply to weed out the undesirables etc..
Its simply something i found over on another forum, and found it useful
thoughts ? ideas etc would be good to hear

Re: One for the mods/staff of FT
Its been brought up before, see below.
I decided to only buy stuff from members of the forum that have been around for years and I thought I could trust, still got rippped off twice

I think the Trusted sellers post was a great idea where you could have feedback like ebay, maybe we could get the list updated

AdrianFRST :1) there should be a rule that you have to have 100+ posts (non spam) to be allowed to sell anything
Not really, plenty of genuine people register because it's a good way to sell things.

The trusted/non trusted seller post, is so long and a pain to look through to see if someone is trusted or not.
I reckon a small avatar saying 'Trusted seller' should be displayed under people usernames, but i can understand that being a lot of work to keep up to date all the time

At least if people register, then you know they are genuine, and not just on here to sell their bits then bugger off, which kinds gets under my skin
And registered people will need to provide a name and address it take it ?
that way when some decides to bump another forum member, they have some sort of details they can act upon.
Ive been noticing it more and more over the past year, people popping up with 1-25 posts selling a car, and not even having the decency to type up and advert, they just stick a pist off heads ad on
Id just like to see the site improve and not slip into the degradation that seems to be gripping alot of forums

Re: One for the mods/staff of FT
It's hard to monitor, without a doubt.
The other thing of course is that 99% of the people that advertise stuff are in fact genuine. Admittedly they are just coming on to advertise their parts, but surely it's betterr that the people on here get offered them first?
I know plenty of petrol heads who don't come near the internet until they actually need to buy and sell stuff. So would show no interest in typing a few messages to a few people they would never meet.
Not sure what to suggest really, collection of parts is ideal. Maybe a star or something.

What's wrong with people signing up just so they can sell the bits and bobs they have stuffed in there shed then bugger off and never come back again ?
At least they are coming on here and giving people the chance to buy there stuff which if they hadn't then people wouldn't have such good cars on the site imo

I agree there should be something put in place, the trusted sellers thread is good, but its not kept up to date is it.
A few other forums have a rule that you have to have 100 posts before you can view/post in the for sale sections, its a good idea I think.
If you get someone spamming there way to a 100 and then offer cheap / sus parts you know there dodgy, most wont bother..
Ive been ripped off three times on here

Re: One for the mods/staff of FT
It's a problem to be honest and without an awful lot of work it'd be difficult to police. Think about it, you'd want a rating system a-la ebay, but, there's no infrastructure for that, no way of selling the sort of manner that offers any kind of feedback system. Without implementing a kind of mini-bay it'd be impossible to set up and monitor....
