overbore 1800

Postby dangermouse on Mon Oct 13, 2008 3:35 pm

is it worth me having an overbore on my RS1800? rather than fitting the 2litre from the mondeo. also will i need to change my ecu or anything else? and does it cost much for the pistons afterwards, ive heard its like £500 for accralite ones.

cheers peeps

its simply not cost effective to when the bits to fit a 2ltr are so cheap!

to fit the 2litre, its only the sump that needs changin int it?
i was lookin more on the insurance and DVLA side of things, would it affect much with the engine change? as the overbore wouldnt be apparent

It all depends on where you live and how old you are

I'm 30 and when i told my insurers that i swapped my 1.6 8v for a 2.0 16v modified to give 250bhp it only went up £40 more a year

do you have to ring adrian flux up? how many years driving and no claims did you have before you started?
the only problem is, id rather just buy a faster car and save a bit of money if i cant mod my fez, which i dont want to do because theres no fun

You need to change the oil pump, water pump, oil pickup pipe and sump for the ones on your RS1800, I ran my last fiesta on rs1800 gear with 2.0 engine and ran fine, fueling was spot on.

1800 ECU will run the 2.0 fine, if more modification are done to the engine then i would recommend a remap
