Overheating issue

Postby AR-FRST on Sun Nov 03, 2013 2:22 pm

Hi Guys,

Having just received my FRST back from a local garage for an MOT (failed - wheel bearing) Which i was very impressed considering the age of the car (H-Reg)

A full coolant (Black) Roose set has been fitted & the car was running great until I drove it on the motorway. I didn't hit the speed limit of 70 just to be safe i kept the Fiesta at 60.

All of a sudden the temp gauge started to climb BIG style. In the red. I pulled over & could see steam coming from the brand new plastic header tank. The water was bubbling.

Having now got the car at home I let it cool & removed the header cap. Zero water. I have now filled the header tank to the max line & left the cap off & the car idling.

The water level started to rise. I have read on a few sites (this one included) that I could have an air lock.

Also the heaters do not work. They did not work before the above work was undertaken.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

sounds like an air-lock to me mate, also it sounds like your heater matrix could be blocked, this could be causing the airlock

Flushing not just from the header tank but flushing by inserting a hose lower down in the cooking system
